Yaa don't know why people are crying about it... If you don't like it, wait. Pay when its finished. The people who say I PAYED $50, How many hours did you get in? Let's see what our money gets us:

• Access to a unique and limited time storyline that builds up to the 2.0 release.
• A year of playing what is currently an enjoyable game and is getting better with every patch
• High level classes and jobs when 2.0 starts
• The ability to give feedback and shape the future of this game.
• Forums that are virtually free of trolls and complainers (unless they want to pay money for a game they claim to hate )

It's an obvious way of keeping an interest to the game during this phase (a story you can only experience right now). I hope you will all enjoy it, and that the company will not disappoint too greatly those who keep supporting them.

I also hope you who are going to pay, are familiar with the payment methods since you did not have to use them yet lest you paid for FFXI, which people should thank for being the test-bed for it and for that reason, new and better options are on the way (incidentally to the US region they should be available before the end of this year if I remember right, just when XIV will start going, a bit later for the EU).

Depending of the actual fee (likely the full blown fee) and if it still gives a discount for XI, I might be paying as well, but it's more on the unlikely side for the time being.

when did they say the world was going to gradually change? the new world is based on the new servers, and a bunch of features and systems that cant be done until the new servers hit. Its going to happen all at once, not gradually. You might see some version of a system that will be refined after and the story leading up (and content with it) but not the major changes you seem to imply, those will be 2.0 only.
