Thread: Game is saved! (FFXIV 2.0)

I am really excited about all I've seen with XIV 2.0, so much so that I'm feeling hype for a game i'm already playing. Okay so we're being billed now, boohoo. Did no one bother to read any farther than that?

The 2.0 Screenshot fighting the Hydra (of Chimera, whatever it is) looked amazing. I love the new UI look and I almost cried with joy that they are rebuilding the server structure and graphics engine from scratch. The new UI has kind of a futuristic feel to it which looks really awesome imo (some may not like it). I'm kind of on the fence about the whole square buttons since I always liked circular buttons over square ones but I think these new buttons fit the new UI. The concept art for the new zones look incredible as well. Also, am I the only one thinking "user-made addons" = "legal windower"? :P

Now I need to go lol at an XI-friend of mine who said awhile back "XIV is so bad they are already developing a new MMO to replace it". Oh wait, I'm sorry, Were you talking about the new XIV? Although marketing the game as a completely new package is a smart idea. By going to E3 and being able to say "Well, forget the old XIV, this is an entirely new game." I think they will be able to bring back a lot of people and shift the attitude away from all the negative bias.

Expressing excitement over the new version of XIV didn't quite feel right in a thread titled "the game is ruined" anyway.

I am on board with you, this is amazing news, and I'm excited to play though the destruction of the old XIV and then come into the world of the new XIV. It's super exciting stuff.

I know there were those who where crying to shut down the servers, but in essence this is what they have done. They are keeping old XIV alive and re-building it from the ground up and we get to keep our characters. This will help with lore issues, story going forward, it's a brand new world, day, game... And we get to play how it happens, how often does that happen, it's our very own catliclism(sp?) so to say. It's a story that is one time though.

Also, on the road map, they have a section that says "phasing system" so it sounds like as we play the game things will change. Sweet!

Because clearly, WoW is the oldest MMO in the world and the grandfather of all internet gaming in general. And any game who dare use anything similiar to it must be shuned as a clone!

But really, most of the "omgWoW" arguments are so silly.
