    Drk 30-60

    Hi,

I am just about to get my first character up to the content required to unlock DRK.

This is the class I want to play and currently have a WAR.

What mathematically works out to be the quickest way to level in the current game state?

    Dungeons/Fates/Leverettes?

If Dungeons are there some to avoid due to high duration to clear times?

Low level roulette is good xp. Make sure you are using food as well as FC combat bonus to get bonus xp. However if you see a CCH fate group going, those are fast xp as well.

I do not recommend leves unless you are doing them to get the xp from the weekly challenge log.

Dungeons I recommend avoiding are Aurum Vale once you hit 47. I pretty much fate grinded between 47-50 in NT to dodge that dungeon in the roulette

Dungeons. Daily Roulette. You will be adventurer in need 90% of the time and have 10 second queues. You can do Leves and Fates as a break, but Dungeons are the way to go. You can also just queue for the highest level if you don't care for seals.

Well, Depending upon how outdated your Lodestone is, as a warning: You still have a while to go before getting access to Ishgard, and thus the Dark Knight job.

Once you hit 50, you have to gear up decently and work your way through the Main Story Quests from patch 2.0 to patch 2.55 - you can get ilv 115 gear at 50 easily if you ask FC members for help to buy it in Ishgard for you and that'll get you to a good point to do that content with. Depending on if you watch cutscenes or not, if I recall, it takes about a week or two of non-stop story work, and by the end of it most likely your WAR will be about 52-53 or so before you even gain access to Ishgard proper.

As for the main topic: As others have said - as a tank, in early levels it will be fastest to spam dungeons, with levequests during slower periods or when there are fate groups going strong in areas like Coerthas Central Highlands or Northern Thanalan. AFTER you hit the patch 3.1 content and can unlock dark though, if you proceed no further then unlockjing access to Ishgard itself and the job unlock options, you should then move on to doing your Main story quests - you may well hit 60 before you even finish those, as they give a ton of EXP over time if you sprinkle in an extra dungeon or two and the required flight unlock quests.

Gearing up "Decently" is pretty easy given they give the Level 50 job gear as part of the quests now.

Ah one ither thing: you talked about dungeons to avoid. Really, there aren't any. I dislike Haukke Manor, some hate Aurum Vale. But every monster and boss gives XP. If you roulette you don't get a choice. If you pick a dungeon, go for the top one. Cutters Cry is quick. Brayflox is my fav. But the higher the level the more XP. It's not a major difference though- the difference between Satasgha to Brayflox is way more than Brayflox to everything after.

Many of the Leves in Costa del Sol can be done in less than a minute each, that's for your level 30...
Just don't do one named "Steering" something... thats a "Beckon" type and those are slooooooooow.

Not for the three new jobs. Either that, or I missed something REALLY important on my MCH and AST, haven't gotten DRK up there yet but I don't see why that would be any different.

Since you're leveling WAR, keep all your tank gear so you won't need to refind/rebuy gear for your DRK.

And dungeons are by far the quickest for tanks to level, along with fates and leves if your queue is being kind of long (it happens sometimes). You can also do some daily beastmen quests to get some EXP that way and eventually get a new mount and stuff (like the Sylph quests in East Shroud will get you a Goobbue mount, or the Kobolds will get you a Bomb Palanquin [a chair carried by bombs] once you get your reputation with the beastmen up).

When I unlocked drk it only took me 2 days to get from 30-50, then another few days to get to 60 as I worked through heavensward (should go quicker now that HW dungeon exp is increased)

Hopefully you have an FC that keeps tier 2 xp buff up. Hopefully you have plenty of rested exp saved up. Those two things always help. I started with fates at first but really, as a tank dungeons are the way to go. Always use food for that little bit of extra exp, doesn't even have to be good food- they all give 3% extra exp. Do your roulette/s, then just focus on the highest level dungeon you can do as suggested above. It's even more helpful if you have a friend who is leveling something at the same time (especially a healer) so you know you'll get someone competent.

Start organising your tank gear early so you have it all ready to go, and buy some GC gear to fill in the gaps
