I was thinking of how the Diadem exploration isn't exploration and how it isn't about true teamwork or truly sticking together. There is nothing requiring teams to stay in communication and I think there is one big way to fix that along with all of the other things wrong with Diadem.
Disable the Map and minimap. Keep the compass.
The map is the reason why it's so easy for teams to find farm areas and split up and get together again. If players could not use the map, they would have to stay together to avoid losing eachother. It would require teamwork and communication. If someone dies, they must either remember the path, or have a team member give them a visual guide. I would like to explain further but there are other points.
Have more objectives and make them harder to achieve for a better reward than just Esoterics. As well as a broader range of them.
Having such boring and useless objectives is why it takes until the last 10mins for teams to do them. Give players a reason to complete them. Materials that are expensive on the MB...gil.. stinkin' Centurio seals found in a poop pile, something!
Make gatherers not as easily detectable while in Hide mode(Undecided...)
I was thinking.. Gatherers should be able to gather. And right now they can't because monsters kill them. However, if there was no map and teams were close together, DoW/M could protect them or clear an area of enemies so they could gather. But only IF the devs don't fix Hide.
Add more hidden coffers around the area that have items other than just gear
If there were better things in coffers people would be happy to actually find one.
Have at least one or 2 more maps for the future. And there can be a roulette
More exploration maps to have fun in with no maps? "Where are we? lol"
More complex or difficult mobs. No HP increase! That's not difficulty..
Have more enemies that have mechanics. As much as I hate that freakin' Wisent.. I remember everyone wiping to that at release day. I'd be happy if I went into a cave with a team and a few Twintanias came from the ceiling or something and rushed the team. There needs to be more random events. The feeling of surprise is nonexistent. Everyone knew how Diadem worked the first day. Players actually need to be able to NOT know something like the back of their hand on the first day.
EDIT:Make the caves a more unique experience by adding separate music
I think to make caves more interesting there should be different music while in the caves and fighting. Heck, personally, I'd be happy with the the low level dungeon battle theme for cave enemy battles. The Pokemon music can only go so far.. It doesn't feel right going into a dark cave with that music there.
Change monsters in caves to actual cave monsters. Make them different from the monsters outside
This could go a long way. It sucks to be fighting ants all over an island then go into a "secret" caaaaaave just to go kill the same ants in the cave now. And the same trees that somehow got in the cave. And the same huge Star ranks that somehow got in the caves..
Keep HP the same.
