    Post Character Limit

I'm... quite a verbose person, and will quite often find myself going waaaay over the 1000 character limit for a post.

Does this get unlocked at a certain number of posts? I've seen some people put in stuff that's incredibly beyond this limit, so there must be something I can do, that I am not.

The limit will always be there, BUT only for the inital post. Once you have posted it you can edit it and it can go beyond the char limit. So if you have a really long post you can type it out, then cut/copy, put "edit incoming", then edit it all back in.

Yes many of us think they should increase/get rid of the limitation (as well as overall posting count. Which i just hit one post after this one.)

If nothing else, I see the character limit as a guideline for short and to the point posts; which we should all strive for. I mean, who really wants to read a novel of a post that just turns out to be someone's rant that never had a point to begin with? That's time you can never get back.

I don't really agree with that. Not everything can or should always be smooshed into a TL;DR version.

I never said everything should. It's almost practice to see how tight you can get your writing. I've gone way over a few times as well.

You can usually identify rants from being incoherent to start with, as well as looking at the thread title.

Keeping people from expressing themselves fully, in as many words as they deem is needed, is borderline censorship - and just look at stuff like Twitter, how fights and misunderstandings happen just because people can't actually express themselves the way they want to. Or in some cases, have to.

I am sorry if you consider 1001 characters a 'novel', but to some of us that is a below-average message length when we want to express ourselves clearly rather than so to-the-point that the actual point is lost.

Well if they make a good point I'd say it's worth reading but most people who start complaining about nothing regardless of length I just "TL-DR"

I think post count shouldn't be included in the quotes, otherwise 1000 seems reasonable enough without an essay spill.

I'd rather them do away with the limit on how many posts you can put per day.

Nothing more aggravating then being in the middle of an interesting discussion and then you suddenly can't respond any more.

Ya, this is something that I think they could easily fix and most posters would approve.
