Why Bard can't have temporary aura when play song?

I wonder why bard still Bard don't have temporary aura when play song when MCH's turret can show effect when they switch to TP/MP regen mode. MNK and WAR have temporary aura when they get stack of Greased Lightning or Wrath/Abandon too. It is a little QoL for Bard that isn't hard to develop. What is the reason for only give aura to MCH's turret but not add it to bard's song too?

It shouldn't be anything too big, considering that it's maintainable indefinitely outside of combat. Less we get a repeat of dork side on release.

Or gaudy. Having musical notes floating around me like the Mogdelier would be stupid. I'd like something subtle, too.

Really, the lack of persistent effects for abilities/buffs in general is really weird. You would think that the healer PVP ability that grants near-invincibility would have a visual indicator outside the buff icon, for example. Same thing with Hallowed Ground.

Unrelated to the topic at hand but I absolutely do NOT want them to give a big bright flashy "hey idiot don't hit the healer they have Attunement up" safety helmet visual effect for Attunement in PVP. One of the best things a healer can DO in PVP is to bait a bunch of morons into whaling on them for 10 seconds with all of their offensive abilities going to waste via "MISS" after "MISS" while their team caps the undefended point.

Why not remove spell casting animations while we're at it? That way someone will have to have you targeted to know if you're casting anything.

People can bash WoW all they want but one thing it definitely did well was visual indicators for important effects. Ice Block, Divine Shield, Avenging Wrath, Cloak of Shadows, etc. all provided enough visual information to make it so you didn't have to constantly monitor someone's buffs or your chat log in order to know what they were doing. If this game ever wants to have decent PVP it needs to let an experienced player know what is going on at a glance even if his/her UI is off (needs better hit detection too but that's another thread). Someone shouldn't have to target you to determine if you're lagging out or if you're invincible. Similarly, a summoner should be able to just tab-Deathflare a 20% HP paladin without stopping to make sure his Hallowed Ground isn't active.

A blood elf with a two handed weapon is running at you. He's got golden wings and an aura is pulsing around his feet. You're a caster. You probably should turn around and RUN because the wings mean his damage is greatly increased (and he's a paladin) and the aura around his feet means he's immune to movement impairing effects for a few seconds. You know all this without ever targeting him or seeing him activate these abilities.

A mi'qote with a spear is moving towards you. The spear tells you she is a dragoon, and you know that in a brief moment she will Spineshatter Dive you and then ruin your day. Fortunately, you have Swiftcast Tri-Bind ready to go and the range advantage. You tab target and let the spell fly, but you failed to notice the Fetter Ward icon there before you hit the button. Now you're getting limit breaked.

Not going to derail the topic further, but no, I do not find looking at people's buff icons a difficult, trying task, and neither should anyone else. I think giving big flashing indicators to highlight when someone is using a core PVP skill eliminates a huge portion of the strategy involved in using said skills. In your example, that Tri-Bind wouldn't have saved you even IF you saw the Fetter Ward "effect" or whatever - at best you'd have saved yourself the Swiftcast, I guess? LOL.

And really, heaven forfend a SMN not get a guaranteed kill on a sub-20% HP target every once in a while. On a PLD who wasted a FIVE-MINUTE CD simply to deny them that pleasure.

Sorry if I seem hostile, I just don't think PVP needs to be babyproofed. I say this as a SMN who has been LBed plenty a time, and Deathflared my share of Attuned healers and Walking Dead/Hallowed Ground tanks in my time.

Hey, we're already doing better than FFXI, where the bard pulled out the instrument, played a song, and stuck it back into hammerspace.

    Oh wait.

Actually the instruments in XI didn't go into hammer space, they filled one of your 50-80 pocket slots and between them and all the weapons and off-hand items could take up a fair chunk of your inventory (oh god, the macros... so many macros...). XIV is the one big on 'hammerspace'.

#1 reason to get Gjallarhorn was elimination of 9 other weapons.

Then they had to go and make it more complicated with the Empyreal harp. T_T The macros for THAT got.... interesting. You'd sing the songs initially with the harp to get the 3rd song, then you'd hurry and resing them again with the relic horn to get the stat boosts. Welcome to my life in FFXI circa 2014. And if the third song dropped you had to start all over again.
