Adding the code is easy and comes with benefits to your character (and to be fair, mine as well). To apply the code after logging into your Mog Station, do the following:

1. Click on "Manage Service Options"
2. Click on "Enter Recruitment Code" and type in the code above.

Simple! Do this before adding a subscription and you'll be mailed some fun/useful stuff in the game. It includes an accessory to increase experience earned, tickets for free aetheryte uses, an emote, and silver chocobo feathers that can be redeemed for items.
