1. Log into "Mog Station" after creating a Square Enix account http://sqex.to/Msp
2. Click "Manage Service Options"
3. Click "Enter Recruitment Code" entering the code before making your first monthly subscription payment.

(Caution: The recruitment code can only be used on a service account that has a retail version of the game registered to it and has not yet paid for a subscription.
This means, that if you are on a Trial-Account, you can't enter a Friendcode! It confused the heck out of me, when I tried to enter a friend code while I was still on the free Account :'D.
