When it was released the game was crap and not worth paying for, but almost a year later and 13 periods of free gaming I think it is time for us to pay.

The game is good enough as a release candidate and is not worse than other MMOs at release.

It lacks a few features still, like a mail system, but for the rest it is good enough right now and it will be even better when 1.20 hits.

Above all I will be happy we get rid of the cry babies

Whats more important is here and now, FFXIV was slow with the updates/changes to the game because they had a budget in which they were getting Zero income from . Now, When they are asking for a little support 12 bucks a months when YOU been playing for a year for FREE, and they ask for 8 months of money to make a game that Fits the Final Fantasy name?

This Community is Greedy sometimes :/ SE bent backwards for US, at least lets return the favor...

they really didnt, they just did what they had to do, releasing a 80 dollar game then closing up shop would have been way worse that anything else for thier company and brand.

Yes they apparently have done development behind the scenese for a year

but they are a game developer, the current norm is that a game developer do behind the scenes work for years then release the game and make money.

They havent really done us any favors, however, i m not against them charging, i just think they as a marketing move should do this either just before or just after the jobs are released, because that is a better hook and market than within a month, the next patch is kind of bleh, its just a finishing patch mostly. achievements crafting and adjustments, thats hardly a best selling patch.

Even if they dont do the patch, i dont think they should start charging for 2 months, i think a month is short notice, and i hope they dont start auto billing people, and rather require them to actively pay again, because im sure many people may have forgotten to properly cancel billing in the long hiatus.

supporting a unfinished product doesn't justify my 12$. fyi they let you play for FREE only to hear your feedback's. boy oh boy, pretty sure calling the community greedy will change my mind about paying those righteous 12$ friend truly it deserves a game developed from our pockets and not from investors.

15 bucks a month is not a lot to ask, it's lunch money. I plan on supporting this team, BECAUSE they are obviously dedicated to this project. They have provided me with hours of good times with the last couple of patches, and I think that they have earned my support. If you are in the same boat as me, I think that you are being a bit selfish by "jumping ship", but that's your call to make, of course.

I wouldn't have considered paying for this game if it weren't for the obvious care that the devs are putting into it, and if it weren't for the fact that the game is evolving at such a rapid pace because of it. The game may not be perfect, but no game is (except for Rez, maybe). All I know is that there are some great things coming on the horizon, and I'm gonna be here for them.

All MMO's are unfiniahed products. Once they are finished, they are dead. Just a bit of perspective. Secondly, the amount of content that will be in the game by the time we start having to pay will be more than plenty for a new release, so why wouldn't I be willing to? There are continued updates every month or so after, so it's hardly like what we have today is it until next year.

People need to step back and look at the current game in a more objective manner.

Threads like this sorta assume everyone is ok with other mmos. There are those of us where XIV is our last hope, unless Wizardry comes to the U.S. and EU areas. For those of us who did like the XI style, and saw XI become so utterly unplayable and feed into a spammer mess of people who don't even have the most basic mmo eitquette anymore, XIV might be the last salvageable game out there. SWTOR is already a wow clone ( that is supposed to last until 2025, yeah on a sh!tty wow skeleton, with a sh!tty wow hot bar, and crappy graphics), the world has changed to where "real gamers" are now fps and tps shooters and rpg players are "gay and lame" (to them lol lil do they know they're gay and lame to us too damn!) So I'm more willing to pay for XIV, have them change the forums into what XI's forums have "you have to pay for the game to log on to the forums and speak", and then its really only the people who pay for it and want to play it who have a stake in possibly changing the devs minds about stuff.

I'm holding out there for the resurgence of old school mmos when people realize they were just into spamming because their spammers, and are now tired of it. I have a real life too, I go to college, I work from time to time also, if there's enough time. I have real crap to do, but that doesn't mean I want to spam the minute I get on to the minute I get off. There are some casual players that basically just want to play the game at the same difficulty as mid core or hardcore (i'm mid core btw), but at their own pace. Casual doesn't mean easy spammer WoW game, can you believe Blizzard said their new mmo was geared towards casuals, we thought wow was casual, but when you think about it, its really not I guess.

    Star,

Usually I can see eye to eye or where you come from, but I have to disagree. I have enjoyed this game. However, there are only so many repeat leves, repeat crafting leves, repeat cut and paste that I and my husband can handle playing. I don't think the community is being greedy. We as consumers were sold a particular product, said product was not complete, except for the beautiful graphics. However the rest of the product was in complete disarray.

They did however mention they would fix the product. Granted it's taking a while, and I can handle it taking a while to make this game "release" worthy. I do disagree with being charged to play an incomplete product. There are many who spent the 50$ to buy the product and some spent 80$ to buy the CE (my husband and I bought two of the CE so we could get some of our friends to play, so 160$ was wasted). I kind of feel cheated out of my money at this point and as a consumer by a company that had my following for a while, including my support in XI for many years.

I am not paying to play an unfinished product that still doesn't meet certian criteria with what many consumers would call industry standards such as AH, mail delivery, a user friendly party feature, and it seems that many MMO's seem to have this insta-dugeon finder...I guess that is industry standard now? (correct me if I'm wrong on that).

And to me as a consumer those are just a few things lacking, I didn't even get onto a few other things such as hate generation (maybe we are playing incorrectly, but I find it odd that I let him go charging into battle first to build up hate but as soon as I toss one cure to my husband as a THM I grab hate like a mofo and the darn mob won't even relent to his taunt or other WS that he does) , UI lag, lag in general (and don't tell me this doesn't exist because I sit and play side by side with my husband and he has lag issues when I don't and this issue didn't even exist when he and were playing FFXI together side by side, and his rig was built to run this game beautifully!). Those are just a few of the issues we have.

I mean, in the current state now it's just a big ol' mess. And as much as I would enjoy continuing to play while they make the proper fixes to where it is release worthy, I just can't for the life of me justify paying to play FFXIV. I think I would rather just take a break, while I still somewhat enjoy this game, and wait until it's fixed and complete and just not give them my money, cause I know they already have 160$ of my money, but not a cent more until it's completely fixed.
