Who is jumping ship once they start charging in November?

I'm not saying you shouldn't like the game. I don't mind if you do at all. What I'm worried about is the attitude that you can shed a sizable portion of the existing FFXIV community and things will not only be fine, they'll be better. Let people go away for a year, and there's no guarantee they'll be back. They are on the verge of being loyal players, and people around here are dancing in the streets that they are going away. It's so self-destructive, how can I not say anything?

I'm gonna pay for atleast 1 month, just to check out 1.20.
to be honest, i'm enjoying this game at 1.19a, and they've been working very hard to improve a lot. I liked the game back when it was 1.0, it was different, just the bugginess got me. I'm glad they've done a lot to make it even more enjoyable, and figgured since I've been playing for free for a year-ish, I'd spend 12-15 bucks for another month to see where they're going.

Not hating, answering a simple question with a simple answer. The idea being the same behind the other threads that have been closed, namely: Everything, absolutely eveything, that can be said, has been said. So stop worrying for those people who are on the fence and do yourself a favor and stop being repeatingly frustrated by people who just do not share your views. This can't be a debate because it's based on opinions that are nearly unshakable inside each individual.

I'd just like to say that I'm uninstalling this game now, as is my boyfriend. We are looking forward to trying the free trial in 2013. We just don't feel that this game is worth paying $400 between the two of us from now until 2.0 . That is, $400 dollars if 2.0 isn't delayed a few months, which we all know it will be because of SE’s new-found sense of Quality Assurance....

I've offered some suggestions and I've reported bugs, I thought that was all that a company needed from a beta tester, until I met SE that is. So all of you people who are having a blast, I hope you have fun paying SE to be beta testers. And don't kid yourselves; this is beta version 1.19. SE is really good at sugar coating how crappy this game is going to be for people who are planning on sticking around. Yoichi Wada and the shareholders of this company need a good slap in the face. They should be ashamed of themselves..

So in short, this is where I draw the line. I'm not going to contribute money to the servers staying open just so SE can save face. When I come back for 2.0, this game had better be in very damn good condition if they expect me to unsubscribe from the MMO I will be inevitably be playing until then.

Honestly I wonder if they couldn't have picked a worse time to start charging. Announcing that the game is a full year from being "ready", holiday gift-giving season upcoming ($$), that other major MMO releasing (NA & EU).

I enjoy FF14, but the fee might force me decide to either stop playing until some time next year when I'll have more time, or pay and hope I can get more play time than a few hours a week. They haven't said what the fee will be, have they? I assume it will be the full amount but still include the FFXI discount?

Yea I was wondering if they would even still do the FFXI discount as they previously said more than likely they won't though.

You probably won't need to. Yoshida said you'd get to experience 1.20 before having to make a pay decision.

They aren't the XIV community, otherwise they would be here instead of some fan site. I played WoW all of two days before I decided it was crap and stopped playing. Am I part of the WoW community? Not by a long shot.

YA we all bought the game because of its great reviews it got.... we are not fans, we just want something for free. we did not buy this game when it came out we waited till after all the bad reviews, and said hey, I am not a fan, I am going to buy a game that got crappy scores on every gaming website that reviewed it.
