Botting is hard to find out because it's client-based, not server-sided. Main way you can possibly attempt to "stop" them is by reporting them yourself manually than having Square Enix do it for you.

To answer your question, right now dealing with bots are minimal to zero. Unless of course the community ourselves constantly tries to look out for botters.

Yeah but se doesn't even deal with those who do admit to botting in game. Had someone admit they botted the grind parts of the relics in the game and se to this day has yet to do a thing. Saw same person on the bot trains in north thanalan when the level cap was raised.

Except its actually a gameplay disadvantage, as you need to control 2 characters simultaneously, not to mention fun times in Vaults last boss with the chains.
There is no inherent advantage to multi-boxing. In games like WoW, yeah, 5 Elemental Shaman comboing a Lava Burst for a 100% crit on a single poor sod is going to ruin that persons day, but ts also nothing that can't also be achieved with communication. But even then, If the multi-boxer is attacked, they have to just stand there and take it because they can't move the characters individually very easily without relinquishing control of the others.

And in a PvE setting, if they're capable of clearing the content and are manually controlling both characters, whats the harm to you or the game in general?
Its not like they can control all 3 Roles at once so they can't even run themselves through a Dungeon while synced.

The bots are BAD i've had multiple admit to botting because OH NO "the games too grindy". Report after report later, they're all still around, still botting, and still laughing in your face about it because they know nothing will be done.. Its disgusting and shameful.. Reporting someone isnt exactly easy either, that just adds insult to injury..

I used to multi-box in FFXI. I had a second account as a backup healer. I didn't use any kind of bot programs to run the 2nd account, just alt tabbed and hit tailored macros to cure my main character without having to target anything.

(I also used that account to hand out hourglasses in Dynamis. The main characters were named Montiont, Lungonango, and Hundredbynebill.)

Two accounts at 50 can get you two houses, two FCs and consequently two FC houses. Two geared accounts at 60 will give you twice the chance of getting loot such as coffin lids, minions or trade-able goods in dungeons.

The only difference with multiboxing is that these two characters can be logged in at the same time and be on each other's friend list. But if you create both characters on the same server, and join the same FC(or create one with a friend and have him invite your alt), the same benefits apply.

I also use to do this, had a mule for Arch Dynamis Lord, alt tabbed hit alexander and went back to main charater. Multi boxing isnt and shouldnt ever be illegal.

Multibotting I can see as an easy way to make money to, start 2 fresh characters, spam through the dungeons and story, send all cash to one character, log into your alt and hand him the money made, rinse and repeat.

Do you need to have 2 accounts to multi box? If so, then I can understand why they don't get banned since they pay for both. If not, well I can understand how it can be unfair.
