From my understanding, they shifted it one day due to the LoV changes. I believe the current tournament ended Tuesday so they shifted the maintenance one day to accommodate that. If this is true, it should be back to Monday nights in the future. Also usually its done on Monday night, not Tuesday night. For me it was really just unfortunate bad luck they decided to do it Tues. Cause my static has been having a lot of issues with late peeps, due to there work schedule. And we decided the best solution was to push the time out 30 mins start/stop. And this happened to be the week they decided to change maint day to a Tuesday. So it ended up chopping off our last 30 mins. In any case, I wish they would just keep the same days if anything. That way those of us that schedule specific days/times, don't have to be inconvenienced. Unless is like, emergency maint, then that's ok.
They are inconveniencing people no matter what time maintenence is. Some people can only play at certain times whether it's peak time or not. I don't think it needs to be changed.
The fact that you made this thread to complain about the maintenance being at an inconvenient time for you, is the same as stating that your time is more valuable than others'. And you are barking up the wrong tree with that casino nonsense, as I worked at a casino for many years and still dont agree that Square Employees need to go back to the office late at night to patch a game, so that NA customers can get their evening playtime in. The reason casinos are open all hours of the day, is because they are greedy and know that customers will come in and spend money at all hours of the day. It's not so much to make it convenient for the players, but to make as much money as possible. Square Enix will not make any more money than they do now, if they change maintenance times. The players that want to stop subscribing b/c of maintenance are the same type of player that will stop subscribing over other petty issues.
As a player on jenova i can tell you for a fact that 9 PST is FARRRR from peak hours. That 12 EST and honestly the peak hours are about 4 hours earlier.
This is not the first nor the last time someone makes a thread on the inconvenience of doing maintenance at Xday around X:XX hour. Let's say the devs does change the time, now that new time inconveniences other group of players and will most likely make a thread on that. Nothing we can do but move on.
The thing is, they do move the patch windows around. There were threads a while back complaining about maintenances happening during EU play times. A 5+ hour shift from these recent windows.
The scheduling is situational...some are done during Japan's business hours, some during the off hours. For whatever reasons they felt it best to run these at a time when they were likely fully staffed and not with a skeleton crew on board.
History has shown that regardless of when they choose to address hotfixes there will always be a region that complains.
It is a game that needs fixing. Be thankful they are working on it. In the scope of the cost of one basic account the downtime to the end user is the equivalent of a bag of chips from a vending machine (and snack size at that) versus weeks (maybe even months) of revenue for them. Pretty good value in my book.
Take a breather...watch some TV, spend some time with the kids... Far worse things to worry about than a video game being offline for patching.

When it comes to maintenance schedules, it's often been Australian players that are inconvenienced the most.
I was only mildly inconvenienced by the maintenance at most. But I take the opportunity with these maintenances to work on my backlog of games to play (to which, I have not put a dent into).
I LIKE the fence. I get 2 groups to laugh at then.
???
This post has 'privileged' slapped all over it...
First of all I live in Japan. I pretty much play XIV almost every day. I work at a school where my work hours are very flexible. Recently I have had the worst luck when work finished early, I get home and bam, maintenance (this happened with the past 3 maintenance). Sure I am a little disappointed, but do I complain about it? No. Rather I favor regular maintenance. It keeps the game solid without too many issues.
Considering how buggy FO4 is... FFXIV keeps a high record for a stable gaming experience. That wouldn't be true if the dev team wasn't working their asses off for your enjoyment. They work tirelessly everyday so you can stare at Lala's all day.
Regular maint's hardly last more than 4 hours anyways, they usually end earlier too.. Play some other games, watch some tv or maybe some Youtube, get some work done, take a long bath, order some Pizza and rewatch episodes of Friends. So much more stuff you can do rather than 'HURDUR YOU TAKE ME PLAYTIME AWAY, I DEMAND YOU GIVE IT BACK!'.
This is something that you probably don't want to show your peers too... or talk about it. Can show your inner personality.
Well...seeing as I am affected by the maintenance every week [odd work hours n' stuff], I'll put in my 0.02 to your tirade. For everyone who got upset by the OP's request, think about how you would feel in his shoes. If maintenance always and without fail occurred during the only time you have to play the game, and you were being affected every time that there is a maintenance, while the vast majority of the playerbase are completely unaffected and experience no service interruption due to maintenance, how would you feel? Before you say that you would suck it up and find something else to do and the OP should quit whining, seriously consider how you would feel if you were in the group of players that were inconvenienced every single time while all other players are not affected.
It doesn't bother me. It's not 'extremely unfair'. I am grown and mature enough to understand that the universe doesn't revolve around me or my wants and needs. A company will hold maintenance when it's convenient for them, deal with it.
I couldn't eyeroll at this harder if I tried D:
Back to nutella! /skitter
Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of another, always at the same time as an end and never simply as a means
Screw changing the maintenance times, i'll just be happy when they figure out that the UK changes its times +/-1 hour throughout the year. Ever since XI they have never known it seems.
