The maintenance time is fine for me. I'm always asleep when they do it.

The fact that you made this thread to complain about the maintenance being at an inconvenient time for you, is the same as stating that your time is more valuable than others'. And you are barking up the wrong tree with that casino nonsense, as I worked at a casino for many years and still dont agree that Square Employees need to go back to the office late at night to patch a game, so that NA customers can get their evening playtime in. The reason casinos are open all hours of the day, is because they are greedy and know that customers will come in and spend money at all hours of the day. It's not so much to make it convenient for the players, but to make as much money as possible. Square Enix will not make any more money than they do now, if they change maintenance times. The players that want to stop subscribing b/c of maintenance are the same type of player that will stop subscribing over other petty issues.

That would make it 7pm in Tokyo. PST, unfortunately, is among the worst time zones due to how spread out other areas of the world are. There is no time they could pick that wouldn't inconvenience EST/GMT+9 players, who typically make up the majority.
No matter what time you move it to, someone, somewhere is going to inconvenienced.
And seriously, if you have a 4 hour window once a week on a specific day in which you can play the game, that's not the fault of the game at all.
You do realize that changing the maintenance time will ruin it for people in other timezones? For JST players it would be an incredibly bad time, and in turn, also for myself (being an Australian). I don't know why they just don't have different times for the maintenance on each datacentre, I guess it would be like back in the day with WoW how people would create alts on other regions and overpopulate those servers while their own was done.

It's because they want the expansions/patches/hotfixes/bugfixes to be applied at the same time across all of the servers. Otherwise, some servers will have an advantage(Japan servers getting new items/recipes before NA servers, or having easier drops because the hotfix is supposed to increase drop rates, etc. Or other servers will have advanced warning of things that are going to change, allowing them to abuse exploits before they're removed, stock up on items needed to create new items, etc.

Kinda confused on this too. Other games do maintenance based on platform to stagger things, so I'm not sure why it can't be done for different data centers.
If anything, it would be good as if they see an issue, they don't need to worry about every server.
Are you seriously trying to compare Police occupation, something required by the citizens for THEIR OWN SAFETY and law regulation, for an entertainment company that is for making profit? If you can't see something wrong with that comparison, I don't even want to explain it.
As for the times. The maintenance is from 2-7pm Tokyo time. That is the perfect working time for the devs. Does it inconvenience some of the playerbase? Yes it does. However, they have every right to do the maintenance during the hours THEY ARE MEANT TO DO IT.
they have been changeing the time frames used
