Whilst it was not directly said, it is eluded to that the style of play required to bring the most out of Blue Mage clashes with the style of play required for FFXIV, effectively ruling out the class, unless you'd like to see it implemented in a way that people would cry as being broken, leading to my favourite call "Make it as it was in XI".

But the problem is, you flat out stated that they would never bring Blue mage to FFXIV, all yoshi said was, it was hard to work with in a mmorpg but he still would like to work on it

"I think that blue mage is an interesting job because you can learn spells from enemies, but honestly I don't think that it really fits MMORPG party settings. If anything, I think it would work solo and it would be really fun to implement it as a job where you go around and learn abilities from every monster, so I'd definitely like to try and do this, but I'm concerned when it comes to playing in a party players would put up barriers if you haven't learned certain abilities. Additionally, in the event you are able to use abilities forever once you learn them, the difficulty of learning abilities would be high, and we wouldn't be able to balance the system so it wouldn't revolve around procuring your abilities instead of equipment. so there's a yes and no, as balance issues is what he's concerned with but at the same time he's seeing how he could potentially bring BLU into FFXIV

3 classes I personally would love to see.

    - Calculator DPS/Healer? (from FFT): A casting class that benefits largely from having levels in multiple jobs! Calculators are famous (or infamous?) for being a broken class in FFT but I love the concept of casting with target parameters based on an equation.

    - Vikings Tank : Similar to a warrior, but they do have access to water/thunder based abilities.

    - Geomancer DPS: I've always thought the concept was interesting, and the geomancer is absolutely different from other dps classes.

    If in Sharlayan lands:
    • Red Mage - NIN-level DPS with some free utility, but most of which will cost DPS in exchange for its use. Some off-healing, some auxiliary healing, has Refresh as a cooldown but must usually spend the CD on itself or would lose dps; certain CDs can be accelerated through certain actions, allowing most noticeably for greater support and/or healing through modified rotational priorities and at significant dps cost.
    • Blue Mage - a Kineticist mage tank with some decent OT dps (about PLD-level or less) and support. The more traditional BLU is done via Hunter/Wildling.
    • Hunter - A cross between the Ranger, Beastmaster, and the traditional Blue Mage. Depending on absorbed abilities and use of pet, can have some support features, but is otherwise a pure DPS.
    • OR Wildling - More or less your traditional Blue Mage, but in physical attacker form. Weapon TBD. (Based on 1.x Shroud lore about people possessed by the element(al)s.) (Partial) shapeshifting. Vicious beyond belief.
    • OR Ceith - name TBR. A primarily physically-stated caster whose attacks are sourced by absorbed elements and effects. Hybrid DPS, capable of tanking.

If Doma or similarly beyond Eorzea:
    • Ronin - A very high actions-per-second job whose niche and capabilities are almost entirely based on his rotations and timing of cooldowns. Every ability can potentially combo with any other ability; the "combos" themselves can go on some 8+ moves. Potential evasive tank, but otherwise typically just a very intense and intricate pure DPS. Stays viable even after the Samurai job is offered.
    • Ronin -> Samurai - Hybrid DPS/Tank. Trades some attack and movement speed for additional armor options, a slightly larger health pool, ability-based safety net, and a bit of support (think War banners, Inspire, etc.). Blade soul gives the DPS side a slightly different spin as well.
    • Templar - A highly tactical longsword-wielding DPS with a decent set of support skills. Not capable of being a true tank by any means, but it can get a lot out of its absorbs. Somewhat anti-magic in niche, but its parry makes it no joke vs. physical either. Similar to a mixture of Rune Fencer, Mystic Knight, and Sword Saint. Continuing in Templar past the point at which Mage Knight is offered goes in a more pure-physical route, more similar to Sword Saint. DPS similar to DRG, but without the piercing bonus, made up for with a tad bit more support in other ways.
    • Templar -> Mage Knight - Specializes in magic sealing and releases, offering a larger variety of support functions while DPSing. NIN-level DPS. Good raid utility, offensive and especially defensive.
    • Adept - Staff-wielding martial artist capable of a large variety magical attacks. Hybrid DPS. Highly versatile. If it had a class, it'd be called Pilgrim...
    • OR Dancer - Hybrid DPS. Battlefield manipulator. Will edit more info in later.
    • OR Hunter/Ranger

    If Ala Mhigo:
    • Hunter/Ranger - either the Hunter as above or a simpler pure-DPS alternative to Bard.
    • Templar
    • Fencer - Still viable alongside Red Mage and Sword Saint.
    • Fencer -> Red Mage
    • Fencer -> Sword Saint - as more of a Noctis/Stella styled blade-caster. DRG-level DPS, capable of mild support through parrying attacks not necessarily aimed at the Sword Saint himself, etc. Blades can be combined for some very interesting effects.

    I would love to see
Time Mage: healer focus on hot, and debuff ot with the ability to slow, speed up and consume all tick

Samurai: tank focus on buff and debuff or may be even parry once it got fix

No DPS since we already have more than enough variety atm

Following by Dancer: healer, issue with it, feel very weird to see male roe dancer, no offence

Because when you read their reply on the matter, it can be reasonably taken as "I'd like to, but no". Besides, we all know that the devs will do what they will without our interjection on the matters they tackle, so they may very well prove me wrong, in which case I would be glad to say I'm wrong, but until then I still find it a reasonable stance to take that BLU will not be a part of this game.

Hmm just 3 jobs, No 4.0 should have 4 jobs. I mean its wasn't for Ninja, 3.0 would have 4 hours. and its BS we say there a holy trinity. we have 5 Classes. and Each class is held back by the dumbest of rules. Now I respect all that this team does to build a great game but if we need to go in to 4.o we need 4 jobs.

We know Red Mage and Samurai are coming and Unless they choose a dual sword Master class. I want samurai to be a DPS. Red Mage is a like 2.0 bard, in concept. think of it as a Swift Casting Master. it lacks the true power a black mage has but has the simple support that makes it a light healer. but for Raid your really gonna want to have 2.

    1. Samurai - strictly dps...just because both other users of the most common weapon in all rpgs...are tanks. (and I seriously hope that ff11 chick who got lost/seperated from Vanadiel isnt planning on sticking around to be the sam mentor with *cringe*..a spear. 2h katana onry!) Please please don't try to be cute and imaginative on this one >_> Stick to the tried and true ideology here.
2.Amazon/ Barbarian- Utilizes club/ hammer-type weapons. Similar to ff11s bst but more pt-friendly.
    3. Any mage job. *shrug* Fartmage. Works best with a blm or mch.
