Why did we let SE get away with this... (Favor system)

I'm going to apologize ahead of time. I've been gathering red scrips the past few weeks, build up a decent amount of tokens, and so today, i finally decided to start gathering the favor items so i could start crafting 2 star items (got 2 star crafting with food), and this Favor system is insane.

You have to get favors for a specific class AND a specific zone, which is horrible. I even "prep the node" so i can get a head start, and the RNG on these nodes appearing is ludicrous, for the 5 minutes you get to gather per favor. I literally just had a situation where i had only ONE concealed node appear for the 5 minutes the Favor was up.

Why did we not completely boycott this so they would have to change it? I mean, even more than they already did (I know it was 15 minutes with a much lower spawn rate when it launched with 3.05). I mean, its a time sink, added to a time sink, on an existing time sink...

I hope posting this doesnt get me in trouble with SE...but i just feel that they REALLY need to make some changes to this system...and soon...I mean outside of the nerf it will get when they implement Green Scrips or something.

Its just such a ludicrous system. I understand they wanted to add some longevity to it...but this really just seems like overkill...

Although its a small sample size, I find myself normally getting 18-25 of the normal ones and 1-2 of the HQ ones for every 5 favors.

My wife and I average around 3.5 items per favor. We ran 40+ favors this weekend between the two of us, to get the mats for craft sixteen (8 each) il170 crafting/gathering accessories for ourselves. Not bad at all, really.

Certainly a lot better than it was before they tripled the amount of mats you got.

TL;DR: I don't mind the favor system at all. It's better than at launch, and it doesn't stop us from doing what we want.

Favors system is still trash and will always be trash. I am far more in favor of the old system of running coil to get the mats when making the i110 gear. The beast tribe for the sealants was a decent idea also on the crafted set. Flying in circle for 5 minutes praying to rng was the dumbest possible idea they could have come up with. Though as you can see I am not a fan of it, it took my gf and self 10ish weeks from the first week of red scrips to grind out a full i170 crafting set for all 8 classes and several of her 8 crafters. After that we just flat burned out on it. Now we have rather epic gear and nothing worthy of crafting.

Favors to me are like.... why spend my red scrips on that when I can get the red scrip gathering gear?
I did do a few of the favors, since I have a few left over after getting the sets, and....sure made me some good money.

In my experience, from time point of view, Favors. In 90 minutes of Diadem you can get only a few Steel Spoils, which will buy you tokens for NQ or HQ. OTOH, I can run 10+ Favors in that time, getting 35 or so token for NQ and a random number of tokens for HQ. Even adding in the time it takes to generate the Red Gather's Scrip, I think Favors are the better way. Of course, I actually enjoy running favors, so that's also a factor.

YMMV, of course. And if you are doing Diadem for the Mistbreak gear, then the Favor mats could be a nice bonus.

Corrected: I confused Steel and Brass Spoils. Favors are definitely better.

We highly complained and SE reduced the Favor time from 15 mins to 5 mins... and tripled the proc-rate. I once got 12 Black Swan Feathers in just 1 Favor... a 15 min favor, but that was nice. I agree, I rarely get 20 mats per Favor these days, I usually just use my Steel Spoils to make up for the difference or buy them on the MB, when the only way to get these mats were Favors it was MUCH worse!
