I think astro needs to be toned down too. The main reason why astrologian is so good is because they can heal while being attacked. Sch's instant heals are limited (and removable, though it's rare that I see anyone try to do that when I go sch) and whm mostly has to deal with it using fluid aura and repose and such. I mean, it's kind of like if you gave the other healers a permanent equanimity buff, except with the added bonus of being able to sprint around while healing as well.
Lots of mention that you need to cc ast, but every other healer is susceptible to that as well so it's definitely not a like a disadvantage only ast sees.
AST, like every other healer, has its healing reduced to a minimum if you continuously attack it. Scholar and Astro are probably better off than White Mage is, because when being attacked Scholar has their trusty fairy to heal them while, but Astro is not magically (hurr get it) better off just because they can Adlo instantly. They still cannot effectively heal their group and can only focus on themselves if they're being attacked properly. Same goes for the other too.
If AST gets nerfed, then the cooldown of Dissipation needs to be even longer in PvP.
Their minimum is an adlo equivalent as opposed to fairy embrace/whispering dawn or... regen, I guess; I think that's a pretty big deal. When you can also run around casting instant cure 2 or an actual adlo essentially indefinitely that would be a different matter. The other healers can't heal their group very effectively when they're being attacked either,as you said, so I can't say I'm seeing any obvious disadvantage.
Fairy is nice, and regen is nice, but I think uninterruptable instant casts out do both of those especially since you're mostly worried about healing off burst damage.
I don't really mind AST as is on 72 man matches but they are godly in 24 man matches especially if they are paired with another healer (as is the optimal standard composition anyway) when it comes to facing your average skilled pug group (even if the ast themselves isnt even all that skilled) this cannot be denied. It already takes about 4 dps to kill an AST (again avg skilled dps here, we know the skilled premades wont have any problems here anyway) so the reduced number of combatants in 24 man compared to 72 man alone significantly increases AST survivability. That lone AST will end up tying up all ur dmg dealing resources (in a standard 4 dps/2 heal/1-2 tanks composition party) leaving the other healer to only have to deal with 1 or 2 ppl which even on whm is incredibly easy to do anyway (god forbid its a double AST though). All that and the party still might not be able to kill off the AST if they arent coordinated enough which is not uncommon in df pug groups.

I agree. Astro needs a nerf in PvP. But with that said, I still kill them often. Just takes a lot more skill.
A lot people suggest CC, but the funny thing is...Isn't it really weird that you need this well coordinated group to kill one AST? The other healers suffer the same, but do not give the same amount of trouble. The issue with CC Control is, the moment you wake or AST is off stun. They can instant cast Aspected Shields for a cure of 2k and a 2k Shield. If they get low? ED. Then Noc shields all day. They're more effective tanks than anything that PVP can offer right now.
The real issue is the instant cure and instant shield AST can give itself with very little cost. Nerf? Make it so their shield can't overlap a shield already applied(PVP only). Fixed.
I'm not saying AST isn't strong. But your team's inability to kill those ASTs is not due to AST being "OP". That is simply lack of coordination and/or burst. 6ppl(I'm assuming you had 2 healers), should be able to burst anyone in seconds, especially at lvl 60.
And in PvP, Healers are tanks, Tanks are dps, and Dps are dps.
LOL... so while there are other roles in PVP people are crying 'OP' over atm that I don't think actually are. AST is, most assuredly, OP in PvP....it is GODMODE.
Here's part of why it's OP:
1. It can survive, without using a pvp skill, all LBs in the field
2. It can chain-shield itself so it cannot be interrupted.
3. Lightspeed= casting on the run....and potent casts at that.
4. It can live without using it's pvp skills.
5. It's pve extentions can extend pvp skills as well
6. It doesn't tie it's survival (unless uber focused/focused by a team of skilled players) to CD's.
7. It can be focused, and still heal others... and can heal people indirectly...and keep everyone up
8. Even it's 'escape' skills are (or can be made) easily instant. Sure, there stun is only 2 seconds, but that's a LONG ass time in pvp. AST still has swiftcast, Lightspeed is effectively so fast you can cast ON THE RUN. And they still have access to the Healer PvP skills. Also, their version of assize (pvp skill) is amazing....it's a copycat skill off WHM, and yet, it (in pvp) is superior to the whm version...as MP is simply not an issue in PvP typically.
The other 2 healers are powerful, and can last awhile/be hard to take out...but they can't turret, kite, avoid interrupt etc like an AST can...and the other 2 healers, rely on proper use of both there PvE and PvP cd's to survive an onslaught.
To be clear, I play healer in PvP...I use to play whm/sch ...now I only do AST...I can survive 4 melee lb's chained on me. THAT IS OP.
Sure, I can't solo down anyone easily either...but that's not my real role in PvP.
An average player on AST, in Noct sect, who only used the PvE skills while in battle, would be able to survive easily...the same could not be said on almost any other role averagely played in pvp.
And when you consider, they took away 'Cleric Stance' from healers in pvp several patches ago because it made them 'too OP', yeah...that was childs play compared to AST's power. Healers swapping to cleric's stance in pvp at least held some risk for the team/healer who attempted dping....AST has very little risk, and big rewards.

Haha I love being Astro in pvp...
Me and a tank were at a tower and 5 dps ran str8 for me the sad part is they didn't kill me at all and wasted their time while my team grabbed the towers and killed them...but the real nerf is for SMN lol I only died to a SMNwhy you so op SMN senpai XD
