Your Main Class - Which is it and Why?

WHM main since closed beta 3. Because:

1a. i Ilove healing people.
1b. And therefore the power it gives you over people ( more than Tanks imho ).
2. Ive always seen WHM as naturally superior beings which goes along very well with reason number 1b.
3. Ive always seen WHM as divas with strong egos which match my IRL mentality.
4, Did i say i love healing ?

I'm a bit of a vagabond when it comes to this game, that's why I enjoy the game as much as I do.

If I had to choose though it would be a split between Monk and Warrior.

Monk because I study martial arts in real life so I gravitate towards unarmed classes.
Warrior because it's dynamic and fun to play.

Normally SCH because preventative healing has always been my favorite type of healing. MCH and AST are giving my current mains run for its money though.

I have a myriad of reasons why, from playstyle, aesthetic (except for the godawful armor), to just liking big weapons. But I think perhaps the most important thing for me, is that I am first and foremost, a guardian of my friends. I've always played tank roles in MMOs because the role matches how I act, I always try to keep my friends' and family's best interests at heart. However, I'm not one to stand idle when I am unneeded in a combat situation in RPGs, if I am not tanking, I want to be slaying the threats. I take a much more direct approach to defense, if I'm not a tank, I am there to slaughter my enemies, not heal my allies.

First MMO I got serious about and I decided I wanted to be a healer since I'm in healthcare IRL. It seemed prudent to use a class that had a pet as I didn't know anyone else in the game at that time and did a lot of soloing. Plus carbuncle kind of looks like a weenie dog and I've got two of those so that seemed fitting. The idea of a "tactical healer", and planning when to use shields really appealed to me... And still does! Though I do play the other healers as well.

PLD is my secondary class, again going on the "party support" vibe. DPS combos/rotations and spell weaving is too much pressure for me.

I don't even know at this point. I've been flip-flopped into four different classes to meet various statics' needs that I've lost interest and enjoyment in playing the game.

Here's my advice: If you want to play your class, play it. If a group asks you to swap, tell them, "No." Don't compromise because the moment you do it, that's when you start to lose heart.

Just to satisfy the thread's question though, I will always be a paladin because of the great wall of mitigation.
