It's probably because the dance is based on the Maori Haka which kinda makes sense why the female dance is much softer compared to the males which is more aggressive.

I'm standing next to the Vanu at Ok Gundu practicing the dance, and one of them (perhaps a female Vanu) is doing the dance much the same as the Miqo'te in the gif. So I suppose it's rather accurate.
The Maori Haka (which is what the /sundrop dance is based off of) has a more subdued or softer female version while the male version is more aggressive. Adam posted a great video about it. It is also reflected this way in the game (see Lanu versus Lani).

I'm the one that made the GIF op posted, I just wanted to let you know the male in the gif is not a Roeg! He's a Hyur highlander! My cat is just so tiny (min height) that in comparison with Vah next to me, he might look bigger than he actually is due to contrast, I guess! But yeah, he is 100% a Hyur, not a Roeg!
Not that it really matters, just wanted to clear it up
Also, just a reminder: that's how the dance is supposed to be! It differs between male and female irl too!
Edit: further proof it's really us, just made this screenshot at our FC house

I just wish the quests were not glitched out and only giving you three per day unlike...well every other beast tribe.
Friend/recruitment code for special items and things (use before paying first sub) RACN78W5 (updated) info on items here http://sqex.to/Cz9 code is entered via the mogstation.
I never considered this. It all makes sense now. At least there is a real reason for the difference. Thanks for that. Also, just a reminder: that's how the dance is supposed to be! It differs between male and female irl too!
Welp, yet another emote to be thrown in the dustbin and never used. Thanks for the heads-up.
I don't know why this is even surprising anymore.
No worries, my pleasure! Didn't know it either, someone linked it to me as well! I still like the male version better but I at least now understand why the male and female versions are different. I personally still like the dance, though! The male one just looks cooler!
Just because some people have been making fun of the guys wanting better glamours for months doesn't mean that we can't show some class and rise above it here; stay cool, everyone.
Thanks to the people who have shared the clips and information about the inspiration for the dance. It makes me like it a lot more knowing that there's a real background behind it (both in its actual traditional origins and the modernised versions). It would be sort of neat if they had the option to switch between the masculine and feminine motion captures with /cpose some day as a bonus.
As someone who is regularly made fun of every time I use the Gold and Thavnairian dances (sigh) I don't expect to look any cooler with this one, but I'll look forward to finding out tomorrow.
Tell your friend he has amazing style (lol). Congrats, both of you.
Haha, will do! Thank you!
Also, keep dancing! Even if they make fun of you! Always keep dancing!
