Spiritbinding ilevel 170 gear.

I ran new dungeons with 2x Astral Birch rings and I got 2x lvl 4 materias for them.

Before I waste gil and time on this, anyone know if its posible to get lvl 5 materas from ilvl 170 gears?

No idea on 170 stuff, but Sky Pirate is a lot cheaper to make and I got 2/5 Tier V from my first set.

But problem is I need materia for crafter not combat

I thought they made it so crafter/gatherer gear didn't spiritbond on battle jobs in HW zones, was I misinformed?

they do, it's just that you need the right ilv to get any % in dungeon. i170 spiritbonds pretty fast in 3.0 dungeons, alexander normal/savage and the new dungeons/diadem.

but do they convert into lvl 5 materia? already wasted expensive materials on 2x ilvl 170 pieces dont want to waste more if noone got materia 5 from them

There is no evidence at all to support that one can get tier V crafting/gathering materia by converting spiritbound items.

Only confirmed way is through the RNG materia lottery with that goblin.

I believe they actually mentioned when Tier V materia came out that Tier V crafter/gatherer materia wasn't capable of being earned from SBing, only by getting lucky on transmuting materia.

HW crafting/gathering gear does NOT spiritbond from combat. The only way to spiritbond the i170 crafting gear is by crafting.
