So... I can't help but think this.

Alphinaud... is stated to be a charismatic person. He was able to raise an army through the power of persuasion.

And that army is supposed to be for help wiping out the ascian threat, beastmen, and primal threats as well.

3.1 it was stated that he may have missed his calling as a painter by Krile and Y'shtola.

With every bit of character development with Alphinaud, he sounds more and more like a certain someone in World War 2.

I never found Alphinaud as charismatic I wanted to give him a slap more than once and now he sounds like Harry Potter.

That would be a fascinating plot twist, especially considering they've managed to develop him from someone i wanted to take over my knee and spank all through 2.x, into someone I wanted to hug and look after in 3.0. It would be a much more creative way to twist the knife, having him lose it so the player had to stop him.

I used to not like him, but I've actually become really fond of the little guy since Heavensward. He's got more personality now.
