Is this games more reliant on CPU or GPU (Choking)

Hi there. Just wondering if anyone could clear this up for me as I'm not sure of the culprit. Wanted to know if this game was more reliant on CPU or GPU as I can only get the game to run at computer standard in dx9 and the lowest setting in DX11 without the game lagging like crazy. Best of times during these settings i can run the game at around 40 fps and cities are like viewing a slideshow. The specs of my PC are as followed AMD-FX 8150, GTX 660 2GB OC Video Card, 8GB of Micron Technology Ram, 990FXA-UD3 Revision 4 motherboard running on Windows 10. If anyone could shed some light on what could be the bad part i can arrange to get that part replaced. As I'm totally confused as to why i seem to run the game so bad.

    Thank you

A little bit of both, but it does seem to be weighted heavily towards the CPU in a lot of cases up to a certain point.

According to passmark scores, that CPU is right on par with my laptop's 2.4GHz i7-3630QM (7632 vs 7637). But your GPU clocks in 4118 against my GTX-670MX score of only 2062. I can run the game in both modes, but in DX11 it tends to drop below 30FPS way too much even when I trim it down a good bit.

Something else may be choking it down a bit. Might be worth taking a look at background processes to see if maybe something is consuming CPU time in the background that you don't need running while gaming. Otherwise, you may be able to do some tweaking to some clock settings to see if you can increase your fill rates. On my old Dual Core system (C2D E8400, DDR2 Memory, ATI 6870), I found I got less bang for the buck on the CPU once I crossed the 3.8GHz mark. The same happened with the GPU core...after I boosted it about 15% over stock, it stopped having much of an impact worth noting, but the memory clocks tended to scale well. At that point what REALLY helped out was the memory speed.

This is something often overlooked in systems. Since a large part of the load for this game is CPU bound, it is important your memory transfers are spot-on. Doesn't do much good to have a lot of CPU/GPU horepower if you can't feed it the information fast enough. If your motherboard has options for altering the way your memory speed is managed, might be worth tweaking it a bit. Can also look into your GPU's memory rate as well--nabbed a couple frames too by bumping that a bit.

Thanks for the reply @Raist I will look into getting new ram first and go from there. Will try and go for either 1600mhz or 1800mhz. Will check the sales

How did you make out with this?

How did the game run prior to Win 10?
