I would take the gear designs of all those games > ANY gear in ffxiv. FFXIV gear is hideous and extremely limiting.

I don't consider any of these hideous, or limiting (whatever that's supposed to mean) in anyway, but to each their own.

I googled Paladin AF1, and found this (modified) FFXI version, this is the stuff you'd find in TERA and is what I'd consider rather ugly, and limiting in terms of defense in battle. NSFW:

It'd be nice if you didn't cherry pick Blade and Soul's outfits, especially bringing up the non-NA/EU version censorship.

There are plenty of outfits that are not fan service, such as this one.



It really isn't fair to cherry pick BnS outfits when we don't purposely pick out the various fan service outfits in FF 14.

I don't have experience with Blade and Soul, as it's not released anywhere outside of Korea and maybe Japan/China too (not sure there) as of yet. I just googled Blade and Soul outfits and pasted a few that I found, and over 90% of them were skimpy, that's not an argument. As for whether or not that's representative of the game, I have no clue, but if the majority on google are skimpy I'm going to assume so. I'm not claiming the entire game is fan service and is rubbish, but it is very clear that it is heavily reliant on fanservice in order to make money.

Edit: regardless of that, I'm expressing my opinion which is the dislike of such outfits. Why are you B&S fans getting so defensive? Different people hold different views.

While I'm not into Blade & Soul this thread is really delivering so far. If a game largely based on fan service can manage to model the clothing for men too, I'm certain that a company with a reputation like Square-Enix's will be able to rise to the challenge soon.

Even the bizarre argument about the 'line' (???) is much better than the bashing we got in the thread the mods had to close recently (a decision I completely respect under the circumstances).

Not to derail, but BnS isn't all about fan service, it has a thriving PVP scene with a big tournament that they're actively trying to draw NA/EU into.

It would be nice if Square Enix would show that kind of care and support for their NA/EU players, it seems threads like these will just be ignored by the mods.

That's cool. Still no interest in playing personally but it's good to hear that they're backing up the visuals they're 'infamous' for with solid gameplay and taking feedback on board

To be fair to our mods here they have addressed the issue here quite recently and they seem to be taking our feedback seriously nowadays. I'm not sure why it's taking the design team such a lengthy amount of time to respond to the bunny ear issue which was raised absolutely ages ago, but I remain hopeful that we'll start seeing more positive changes so long as we keep drawing attention to the problem at every possible opportunity.

It's nice to be hopeful, but we definitely have to keep making noise if we want to be noticed, a mod giving us a "maybe" is better than radio silence. I have a hard time having faith in the dev team when they won't acknowledge our wants and desires, this isn't even an intensive request, so they can't say PS3 limitations or anything.
