Source? The latest interview I could find was this one that states that primal ponies will be able to fly, Sleipnir is a primal pony. Regardless, it's just common sense that they're going to make Sleipnir fly if they make the others fly. Each and everyone isn't going to have a special form to fly in, they'll be wings that are recoloured or a trail left behind of their respective element, Sleipnir could be a dark cloud or whatever they decide on. They're not about to make Sleipnir worthless, they want people to buy it.

BTW guys... Fenrir does fly in cutscenes in the WotG expansion of FFXI.

The Fenrir in XI is not the same as the Fenrir in XIV. As Bear said, that Fenrir is considered a God, can talk, and is more darkness based as opposed to the Fenrir of FFXIV, which is not a God, is more based around the element of ice and snow, is the legendary pack leader of the Abalathian Hoarhounds, and cannot talk (Atleast I've never seen him talk in the dungeon boss fight.)
I know there's no amount of "please don't SE" that can halt this player desperation to make every thing fly when it makes no sense for it to be in the air.. but
please don't give Fenrir the sparkly fairy wings that you gave Kirin..
Also... From interviews I have read Yoshi P stated that future expansion pack areas will have the ability to fly as well. If this is the case then areas with the ability to fly will outnumber areas you cant fly in. So having a mount that is only good for arr would seem counter intuitive

Flying Fenrir mount ruining my immersion.
