The main problem with FFXI forums is that community still have the BG community around, so even if they charged $50/month it will never be clean as long as they stick around -- FFXIV community is relatively young and clear of pure elitism, but those who are being called trolls literally do nothing but try to make things out to be worse than they are and never truly admit when XIV is actually getting better.

So those who are disagreeing with one another aren't on the same lines of those who do nothing but spread negativity.

So basically what you are saying is that because there is no BG of FFXIV, the forums will be all rainbows and lollipops? How many poeple on these forums do you think are here not because they like the game (or want to), but because they don't have anything better to do than dissagree with people on ffxiv forums?

When you have groups of people who sit around specifically to mock people based on gear choices, or because they say "it's just a game", that's basically pure elitism. In terms of XIV, it's already known in-game versus forum community is quite different, so people who participate on the forums just to troll or just to go against people actually being positive about the game, are indeed trolls.

Even more so if they'll gladly pay just to spark arguments for no reason? That's trolling, merely disagreeing with someone or something isn't trolling.

There are one or two extremists on the official ffxiv forums, but just because there is always someone who has negative input on a positive thread doesnt mean that everyone who ever had a negative opinion is always negative in every positive thread. I'm fully aware of what a troll is.

In regards to my original message I was just trying to burst the rainbow/lollipops theory that the forums will magically clean themselves up. The forums will be just like they are now, except everyone will be paying 100% of a subscription to a game that is 50% complete.
