Right. Essentially, if I'm reading what they said correctly, the 7th Umbral Era storyline is essentially the Prologue to whatever happens with 2.0. This is the history of Eorzea, something that new players will only hear about from seasoned veterans![]()
Can not wait for these updates! Everything is looking great! I think SE need to put out some of those concept arts for us peeps to download for wallpaper! Plz!

I was wondering something today while mulling this announcement over.
At what point is renovation of the current clients guts and back ground functions going to stop?
Now i realize that they are going to continue adding content up until the jump, but i just wonder when there going to throw up there hands and say. That's it we have duct taped the innards of this thing as much as we can.
What about features that have been talked about such as a player search /party builder are we just going to have to do with out and wait for them? Are we going to have to deal with the server side issues until this time next year?
Just something i have been wondering.

Watching all this coming in XIV2.0, has never given me such an excitement over things to come. Of any other games ive played so far in my life.
To all those who says its a WOW clone. LOL at you. Ive been playing WOW for 6 years and this feels nowhere close to WOW at all.
If XIV2.0 plays and looks as incredible as the previews show us, I wouldnt be surprised if loads of people cancels/freeze their WOW, rift, swtor account to come play)

The plan is so thorough, it can't fail! I look forward to 2.0.![]()

I am very pleased with what I have seen so far.
Also, to all the people who are saying this is a WoW clone, shut up. Final Fantasy HAS been influenced by WoW and WoW has been influenced by Final Fantasy. The guys over at Blizzard have even said before how much they love Final Fantasy.
Just look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOA4xVA6g0A
That is all I have to say. -_-

I have to admit that i did cream my pants with excitment while reading the PDF's, roll on next year![]()

The list of changes and all of the concept art are very, very impressive. All of it pretty much sounds interesting and fun, and the level and UI designs look like they will be as drastic as has always been necessary. I've always held onto some fears that those revisions would be too slight to fix the game, but this has beaten those fears down.
The timeframe, however, is still very disappointing. I'd have preferred they just shut the game down last year, and then maybe we'd be close to these changes already. Instead they've had to keep the game going and make weird band-aid fixes to everything while designing the new version. I can't help but assume things would have been smoother and much faster if they weren't maintaining the game publicly at the same time.
Also, I'm not sure the tiny amount of story we get every 2-3 months is enough to keep me paying a subscription fee knowing the game is going to be completely overhauled in a year. I want to play the new game, but why should I pay for what we have in the meantime?

You know, I wonder if it will be possible to renew our subscriptions say, a month or two before version 2.0 comes out. So this way we can see the extra & unique storyline they're talking so much about. Because I don't really think SE will introduce a new story plot every week; more like you said, maybe once every 3 months.

I like the V2.0, the concept arts are just gorgeous! But I don't really want to pay for "kinda-unfinished-product" and that ruined my day after I read it T_T
