Can't wait for all the changes!!! The new version looks like an actual Final Fantasy, not just in name. So excited!!!! A year is a long ways away but I finishing up my B.S. so not being sidelined by FF will be kind of nice.

I never played WoW but wasn't that just a button spam hack and slash type affair? I can't see SE ever making a game like that.

P.S I would love a link to a 1920x1080 pc of the new engine image, if anyone knows of one?

Actually WoW is much more complex than that. It does take a lot of team work and skill to defeat end-game bosses.

WoW did come to mind with that first screenshot of the fight with the dragon. I'm actually happy that SE took that approach. Like it or not WoW has spent a great deal of time and money laying the groundwork for a good MMO UI.

I was talking more about the general mechanics of WoW, I wasn't trying to simplify it I just thought that's what it was like, click the sword button and you swing your sword. Also how do you know SE have taken that approach just from that one screenshot?

I understand you were talking about the general mechanics of the WoW. I was simply pointing out to you that WoW does it best to engage players.

The screenshot is very similar to the raid UI typically used in WoW. Besides the screenshot, SE said that they are allowing add-ons for custom UIs, which is also a page out of WoW. There is nothing wrong about that as players should be able to customize their UI based on their play style. I personally think the UI from the screenshot is a bit too distracting and busy, however I would take that over our current UI.

I am very excited about all the changes, minus the look of the UI.

I am disappointed that it seems the updates are farther apart.

Hoping to be able to change character race / look with new races released.

I am not a big fan of the UI, it reminds me too much of WOW, can we please have different versions of the UI look. It seems overwhelming and too much going on for my taste. I like how clean the UI is now. I would like to see a wider variety of icons for status effects instead of the same for defense effects and so forth, that would be a plus.

Why do we have to wait soooo long for a proper mail / party / LS / search functions.

Thank you for your dedication to making this a better game. I feel that the world will come to life with the new changes.

If I'm reading the "client-side customizations (PC only)" correctly, they mean UI mods, which would give us an option to clean up the UI

edit: I wonder if the catastrophe will have something to do with Atherytes, especially after seeing the blackened out notes on some of the concept art and that "unusable Atheryte" CG which looks like those "things" piercing the earth on other concept art. Maybe the Garleans will overload the atheryte veins and they blow Eorzea to pieces, and since there are big Atherytes in all major cities....

    Well...

the catastrophe in the 7th Umbral Era will likely involve the moon Dalamud. I mean they've put a lot of lore into the moon coming down and killing us all, even going so far as to implicate the Garleans.

-When side-quests were first introduced there was an NPC that commented on the fact that Dalamud seemed to be growing larger and of course turning red.

-In the early GC cutscenes Cid is seen muttering about Meteor.

-The bombard event featured large bombs which descended from the heavens upon small meteors. Pieces of these bombards were made into earrings in the shape of the twin moons in the following event which were stolen by Moon Mice.

-I can't remember the specific quote but after completing the low rank Ifrit quest the elezen in the robe suggests that the Garleans may be behind Dalamuds impending descent to Eorzea.

-The 7th Umbral Era storyline will likely become unavailable post 2.0 release. Which means the catastrophe involved in this era will come to a head and likely alter the entire world as we know it.
