Version 2.0 Discussion

I read through this first attachment and am just inspired by the work they are putting into this game. They have been simultaneously pushing out content for us (live) and rebuilding the game, server, UI, map, etc at the same time. I'm not sure there are many companies with that level of dedication. The server and UI have been complained about since release and just a few months after the development team took over they had a plan to fix it. You can't expect it to be easy to fix but they took the initiative nonetheless.
Version 2.0
1. A complete redesign of current repetitive maps. Each zone will be more dynamic and be UNIQUE. Unique alone gets me excited about this. No more repetitive landscapes. Granted the only zone I don't like is gridania but a good change either way.
2. The implementation of a new graphics engine. I already loved the game engine but when you look at page 7/15 it looks even better.
3. A new server system designed for increased speed and performance.
4. A fully renewed user interface
5. The expansion of in-game community content
This is just about everything people have been complaining about for the past year. I am just amazed by slide 7/15 the picture of a raid. Looks just amazing. I have so many more comments but my head is all over the place.

So the next primal wasn't Titan, but actually a Moogle XD ?? I would have never thought ...

All I can say is http://i1099.photobucket.com/albums/...IVHellYeah.jpg
Robert Downey Jr said it best...
"I'm The Dude Playing the Dude Disguised as Another Dude"
It's an MMO, let people be whoever they want to be.

Shut up and take my money!
It's a bit too early to be taking money really, but those changes look awesome. Shame it will take so long to get to that point though ; ; I don't play much and a monthly fee would be a waste of money to me.
Guess I'm out then.

tldr: I really don't get the part where people say "WoW Clone". They're both MMORPGs. It's not bad thing to have a similar user-friendly interface, set of communication features, or incorporate a vanity PS3 trophy system. Those aren't the mechanics or the content of the game.
Extended: It's like a JRPG, would you scream "FF clone" if:
*You had to save at designated save points unless you're in the world map.
*In combat, player party information is located in the bottom right corner of combat.
*In combat, menu of actions show up to the left of party's HP.
*Combat messages or dialogue appears at the top of the screen.
*Party is located on the right side of the screen, enemies on the left.
*Out of combat, get a comparison of stats when equipping items.
*Level up shows what stats are increasing and abilities learned.
*Can buy and sell items at a shop.
*Can pause or skip cutscenes, usually via the Start button.
*Damage is indicated in white pop-up text.
*Healing is indicated in green pop-up text.
*Any kind of victory fanfare music plays.
*Title screen with a start, load, and options.
*Change the background color and opacity of the dialogue and menu boxes.
*Adjust master volume, ambient, music, sound, voice, and event separately.
*Sound effects for moving through the menu, selecting a choice, or canceling a choice.
*The confirm and cancel buttons are usually the same, sometimes swapped between Japanese and non-Japanese layouts.
These are interface elements. To me, they don't make a game Final Fantasy, a Valkyrie Profile, a Breath of Fire, a Wild Arms, a Legend of Dragoon, or any other game that had similar interfaces. It's a familiar interface to access the content of the game. And the less time spent navigating and learning a new interface, the more time you spend getting into the game.
Tangent: Another comparison I can give is Word 95 through Word 2003, you have a similar interface for nearly ten years. Then BAM Word 2007 comes out and people are spending 10 minutes to find the Print option, the Spell Check, or no longer know how to save documents. An attempt to re-invent the interface I suppose, but that's a re-learning curve not just to find the new features of 2007~2010, but to find all the things you already used before in a new layout.
Player Add-ons: Depending on the level of UI customization SE will allow, you *may* even be able to recreate some interface layouts you know and love now or something you loved before.

To whomever is comparing this game to WoW: you have no idea what you're talking about. "Add-ons and maybe a sungeon finder?! Definitely a WoW clone." Shut the hell up. You make yourself look like an idiot.
I can't wait. This is going to be amazing.
Take my money, SE.
So get me straight like 5% of the overall team have been working on v2.0? since january?
