Thread: Researching in-game cinema, I'd love to hear from the community

I am a researcher at Colorado State University (feel free to ask me questions). I am an avid player of Final Fantasy XIV and a great fan of cinematic scenes within games – Final Fantasy XIV is excellent in that regard. I hope the Final Fantasy XIV community will assist me in researching what cinematic moments mean. I believe that game cinema should be considered along mainstream film as they share a depth of both creation and meaning. To that end I have created a short 10-15 minute survey that asks the opinion of those that have played the game(s). I have two Moogle plush dolls to be given away in a lottery; all unique individuals that complete the survey are eligible.

A great question. My data collection period was rather short so I needed a program that could randomly select winners while not collecting identifying information that would require me to go through a non-exempt IRB process. The program "rolls" (I'm sure there's a different terminology, but it escapes me at the moment)at the completion of the survey and only asks for identifying info if you're selected as a winner - that info is stored separately from the survey data and not accessible until the data collection window opens. My apologies that you didn't win, but I really do appreciate your time!
