    Crafter petition abut specialist balance.

    Welcome.

    *This is long Feedback so it will take 5 posts*

    This is my opinion and feedback about Specialist system for crafters in Final Fantasy XIV.

    In patch 3.1 finally we have specialist receptions but they are don’t require specialist action – only specialist soul. Me and friends have little confusion about this “Specialists” because we are “omni crafters” and we can make 2 star items form normal quality material always on 100% and any one specialist skill are not require, I can tell more, that skills are useless and I will explain why it is.

    At first before heavensward was release Producer Yoshida announced Specialist action for crafters and he says about more causal crafting and help people who don’t have all crafters. New Skills like Precise Touch are truly amazing but almost all Specialist skills are useless because cost of using them are too high and crafters who truly have only one crafting still can’t make great items with this skills.

    Many people will say: if they bull specialist skills they will by too over power. That true but you will by OP only on that 3 specialist nothing more, and people will have specialist for those skills not for receptions. Now I have bad feel in crafting in final fantasy.
    Now I explain what is wrong on specialist skills and how to repair it:
    1) Whistle While You Work – New mechanic compare with Inner Quiet, on stack 9,6 and 3 give you ability to restore 15 cp and buff for progress 50%. – there are 2 big problems: if you lost one Satisfaction you will lost CP, so no one will use that 50% buff for progress, and last “automatic” progress are worst skill ever – 200 potency on progress and 50% chance to success and always consume 10 durability. FIX: give slight buff to progress and quality to entire time when buff are on – like 10% and make last ability no consume any durability – like a success to reach 0 stack of it, to give you huge amount of progress for FREE.

    2) Innovative Touch – simple you lost 10 durability and take nothing - if you like have innovation form this skill you need have steady hand II so its 24 + 8 cp = 32 cp for innovation with 70% chance? Really Yoshida? Crafters who don’t have culinarian have even less chance for it. I don’t have good idea for this skill because its useless – I think good idea is convert this skill to 100% success for 18 cp plus next skill will be innovation and you have 3 turns to bur it – like great stride.

    3) Heart of the *crafter* - I know about decrease chance of normal good and this skill should be best skill of specialist list but 45 cp + paper for it give nothing, you have to have 3 or more Good to have this skill worth but it will almost never give you 3 or 4 goods – mostly 1-2 goods and sometimes no one good will pop. FIX – give this skill no CP cost and I can handle blue scripts and this skill are only for specialist and people really like have specialist for this skills, no one need specialist recaptures when have buff for crafting gives you great advantage of good condition. I know people will say: you have time and money to make blue scripts and now you can make 100% every item because you have unlimited goods condition – there are limited to my luck and you can’t have more than 1 good in 2 steps so you will still have make progress and quality to burn steps, and if you have only that one crafter you will have ability to make great items like omni crafters.

    So this is my petition to Development team and to Yoshida itself to give crafters community simple answer about plans about specialization because now its for most of us not acceptable what direction it is going.
    Final Fantasy give you ability to have ALL classes to usage on one character and specialization in desynthesis and crafters brake that convention – I can agree with that because market are dead but the changes that were intended to improve it make crafting more exclusive and hardcore. Casuals player can’t reach high gear and Materia for it because cost are too high and red scripts are very expensive and almost 5 month after 3.0 release you can buy eq for only 2 crafters.

    Yes specialist skills do not seem good enough to be needed. They cannot replace the need for cross class skills, so being omni crafter (all classes) is still just as important as it has always been. I agree the specialist skills need to be more powerful and lower cost.

    I do agree though that the specialist skills are pretty bad. I tried using them for a little bit, but went back to just plain regular ability rotations.

    Yesterday with friends we have try "minimal requirements" of craftsmanship and control and try to make 2 star items - first only with Specialist skills, second time with only cross skills. No one know how much CP is a "minimal" so we used 430 CP and i can tell you that:

    Specialist skills only = impossible to do
    Specialist Skills + Cross skills = 40-80% HQ RMG in Heart of the *crafter are too big
    Cross skills = 80-100 % HQ depended how much Hasty touch we will get.

    Don't have Screen shoot to prove that and all receptions starts on 2500 quality from hq material

    All serious crarfters I know never use Specialist actions because it's counterproductive. I've removed them from my bars entirely after extensive testing and underwhelming results comparing to classic cross skills crafting.
    What I regret now is that my specialists are GSM, WVR and LTW, basically like 90% of crafters. And I often see PFs offering 100-200k tips for some ARM Skypirate recipe nobody can't craft because of specialist restriction.
