Gunblade class, Imperials only?

Want a gunblade added to FFXIV too! It could be a cross of Samurai class too, once it's added into the game, and not just Paladin. Unless Dark Knight has a gunblade weapon somewhere unlockable in the game, I can see a Paladin-Samurai +Machinist combo to make Gunblader class. Or just giving the weapon to Red Mage would make that class stand out way more than it just being a DPS Dark Knight.

Id rather not see a gunblade unlocked for a class already in the game, or glamor for that matter... a class or even cross class of its own would be awesome. However if they absolutely dont intend to, even some more gunblade glamors from the old ff series would be, as a last hope ideal alongside lightnings.

I'd be fine with just glamour for the pre-existing jobs at this point, since SE would never allow you to join anything from the glorious Imperium of Mankind. I was so disappointed when I found I couldn't get Nael/Greg's Halberd.

I think gunblade would be cool for a Magitech Knight job. This would be the FFXIV version of the mystic knight - melee dps using spells and ammo to augment their weapon. It's an iconic final fantasy concept and could fit into the lore easily enough. It also makes sense due to this games connection between job and primary weapon. I think people would like a sword using dps like mystic knight but one handed sword is already taken by paladins. So give them a gunblade instead, make them a magictech themed mix of Celes and Squall, and call it a day. Also, no imperial race choice please. If you want to be an imperial just roll midlander/highlander and wear a circlet. No one wants to see your third eye anyway - gross.

I mean as long as it isn't a damn tank...lol I like dark Knights but it's a tank which is exactly why I am a bit off about playing it.

Same here, dark knight was a job i capped on ffxi, i enjoyed it being a damage powerhouse with a scythe. Im hoping they make some kind of reaper class later on to compensate for drk being a tank. Magitek knight would be fine, i could see it befitting the role of a gunblader. Magitek could even augment the gunblades. Cid would make a great guildmaster in that case cause he invented it.

I had thoughts about that with this...along the lines of creating a upgraded class for a reaper style that uses a scythe unlike what botanists use and it branches from Dark Knight and works as a DPS instead of tank.

Botanist. It uses scythes. Kill 'em unspoiled gathering nodes.
