Perfectly executed raid strategy and raids in general.
What me happy, hmm there are actually quite a few things:
first of all, the Story: I never really got into the Final Fantasy Lore or story that much back in the day, but FFXIV waked my Interest in it which i am glad of. of cours not all the Games though :P
But yea that is a major point, the story of FFXIV.
The next thing that actually is very important to me is simply the Raid. The actual Endgame Raids that we have. As much as i like to get some good items for my main Character to gear him up etc., the main thing for me is simply the "Thrill" of it.
Beating hard Bosses with a group of 8, working as a Team, the joy of finally getting a fight done for the first time.. I Raid becaus i Love it and i am very dedicated into it, pushing my limits, giving more then just 100%. I want to be there for the team i don't want to be a burden or a liability, Rading is not about "You" it is about "7 other People" you are raiding with and if you are not willing to improve week after week and treat everyone with respect, then you are at the wrong "place" my friend.
And yeah ehre and there glamouring around although im not good at it etc. ..Xd

Hildy/Savage raids/Extreme primals/Sacrificing lalas.
• Being able to make an HQ aspected item when I'm just barely geared enough to do so. It'll probably be a great victory if I can make an HQ darksteel hook when I'll be just geared enough to make one (a dodore belt should get me over the craftsmanship/control wall) as well.
• When tanking a dungeon goes off without a hitch, especially one that I went in blind on. These days I only run instances when I have to, not when I want to, so the sooner I get in and get out the better.
• (a semi-rant as well) When during FATEs healers that actually heal others, and not just single-targeting some out of the way monster. Same with tanks that actually keep monsters off other players, and not just fight their own personal monster in their own personal space. Nice when random strangers have each others' backs.
At the moment, the one thing that keeps me subscribed is the story. The combat really isn't much to write home about, crafting gets more convoluted with each update, and updates rarely bring anything new to the table that sticks. The story, on the other hand, that's good stuff.
For me, there's usually a burst of activity after a major update, which slowly trickles to a routine of logging in to complete dailies and then logging off. I used to be a lot more invested than I am at the moment, but after seeing the same pattern for updates for 2 years, it's hard to keep a positive outlook.
Running around in the low level maps, inventory stuffed full with all gear-mats under 30.
Spotting random new players, crafting them a shiny new weapon on the spot and seeing their happy surprise when I give it to them ^~^
(...unhappyness if it's someone on free trial and can't trade. xD)
the things that make me happy, is spending time with friends, getting some new glamours (though it isnt all that important, lol) and helping others in some way or another^^
Carbuncles Boingboingboingboing animation.
Titan and Sephirot Primal fights with the music turned up loudly.

For me, it's the sheer amount of stuff you can do. Combat is never boring, FF14 DESTROYS the sham that is WoW's profession system with sheer depth, there's always something you could be farming, some quest you could be doing. If I had a vacation, and all I had to do was play this game, I still doubt that I'd be able to get all the roulettes, dailies, weeklies, script farming, weekly caps, GC turn-ins and levequests done.
