    insane rubber banding past few weeks on ps4 (Tonberry)

    I've player multiple online games in the meantime all have excellent connection. many of my friends on tonberry all say they lag but i am experiencing severe rubber banding where others would freeze and burst into life again after 2-3 seconds. pls help

    Most likely a routing issue for your ISP to investigate. May be able to remedy it with a VPN. Can try one with their free trial option, and if it improves it is a strong indication your ISP's routing policies need tweaking. You'll need to be in touch with their tier3 support though (sometimes referred to as engineering). It isn't something the tier 1 helpdesk people at the 800 number can address. Nor the guys that come check your lines (unless their actually is a localized signaling issue).

    People usually fair better using the online support options over phone support for these things, as it allows you a better way to send them tracert logs and such.

    Everyone (including SqEnix) seems to attempt to pin ANY connection problems on ISP. I'm having the exact same issue, severe latency that has begun just in the past few weeks. I also play on Tonberry.

    Can't pin it on my ISP when my housemate/FC mate is on the same ISP and states he isn't having the issue. It is literally every time I log in to play too- I get severe rubber banding, with fairly regular disconnects on top of that.

    Meanwhile I can log in to WoW servers on the other side of the world and have absolutely zero issues.

    It's extremely disappointing as it's near impossible to play at the moment- even menial tasks such as daily experts are a frustrating experience due to the connection problems.

    OP says he plays on PS4, is VPN even a possibility for him? Additionally, he said it's only been in the past few weeks- same as mine. So unless his ISP has suddenly changed their routing policies, I highly doubt they are to blame.

    Yes... you can use a VPN with a console. Have to route through a device using the VPN--be that your router or a PC/laptop.

    As for another user on your network not having issues, it could be an issue on your local network (port forwarding, UPnP can cause problems--especially when multiple clients are in play). Could even be an issue with your ISP's network shaping as well--one session could be getting flagged for lower priority while the other is not. Could be an issue through a VLAN on the way through Ormuco--though you are both on the same world, you can be using different IP's to get to the service (we've tracked up to 3 per world in the past), and you are running on different port ID's.

    The point is... someone, somewhere needs to be looking at just how you are getting routed and such to narrow down where the problem is ramping up.

    I am going to call my ISP tonight and quote all this so I sound like I know what the flip I'm talking about. If it helps in any manner I will post back.
