I remember, during the beta, Thaumaturge could still cross-class CS. Some THMs went for a MND build to take advantage of the 10% boost, since sub-50 casters and healers have the same gear.

Although it could also cross-class Stone, which resulted in that one idiot I ran with who used that instead of Fire because "it's more MP efficient".

Balance wise str for tanks for itleast the dark and warrior does translate to its defenses. Between the self healing which scales with attack power it is a logical choice to go with str pieces unless certain bosses/mechanics are made easier meeting a hp thresh hold like SCOB had people using crafted gear to reach a certain hit point level.
