Questions and Feedback on the Future of FINAL FANTASY XIV

QUESTION: What happens to FFXI subscribers? Somewhere during the production of FFXIV I read on IGN that there may/would be a discount for players who subscribe to both games at once, or at least an opportunity to bundle the subscriptions. Is this still in the works or will players have to choose one over the other? I love FFXI, but unfortunately the dwindling playerbase has me running.

Since FFXIV needs Pet type Jobs, do you think The "Machinist" Job could be Implemented as a pet type job with a Mechanical Pet Automation that gets unlocked through Musketeer?

Playing with family and friends is something I truly enjoy in video games. Playing with everyone isn't all that fun in XIV since we all are at different levels, which causes for an uneven playing field making some feel like they are not contributing, and some like they are baby sitting.
Level Sync is something that can fix this issue allowing casual, mid core, and hardcore to play together comfortably. Level Sync will truly make the game more accessible and enable players to play and enjoy newly added low level dungeons as intended.

Is Level Sync in the current plans for 2.0?

Q: can the new v2.0 include alternative chat channels that players can set up to allow access to other players if desired?
similar to party and linkshell chat, but more localised. I like to set a /p casts "soandso" in my macros so that we can better organize casting rotations and such, but it congests the already limited ways of communication

although our LS uses Ventrillo, /l chat, /p chat, I would like to have more options for organizing things. I remember back in my EQ days of being in a healer rotation chat channel. although FFXIV is not anywhere near the large scale raids of EQ, separating chat for different purposes into different windows is a great way to organize things such as buff rotations, heal rotations for enmity management, and jsut knowing what other mages are doing in such a dynamic environment that FF is trying to create

Hey Just have one more quick question for the development team. Is there a merit point type system currently in the works? I really enjoyed the merit system from FFXI as it allowed you to further develop your character after reaching the level cap. BTW, you guys are doing an awesome job with the game. Thank you.

I'm more of a keyboard only gamer... All those implementations sound like I'm going to be forced to use the mouse. Will there still be some way to play with keyboard only?
