Leveling up makes me want to quit.

This is kinda screwed up. OP is pointing out an issue in the game. While he knows how to work around it, people are just being self righteous by telling him to change his attitude. Yea. Right. SE is perfect huh.

It's an issue that pervades almost every MMO, however. And pointing out ways around it are giving solutions to the slow leveling he faces and if he doesn't enjoy those, or leveling at all in this game, then the next solution would be to quit if he doesn't find it at least somewhat fun to do. I don't mind the leveling and find it fun enough with the stories the other quests have along with doing the guild quests and dungeons, so I stick around. Leveling in any other MMO I've played felt way more painful here, but there isn't much SE can do outside of creating more in world quests and content for lower level characters, which wouldn't bring lasting enjoyment to anyone since it'd be designed to blast you through it quickly anyway. Fates, dungeons, using consumables and taking advantage of rested EXP, hunting logs, side quests, and doing what leves one can is how you're supposed to level and, to be honest, it all gets you through it pretty quickly relatively speaking.

I mean, the only other option would essentially be to purchase a max level character, or close to max character, like you can do in WoW.

I don't speak Japanese that well; so not sure yet I did consider Tonberry for the larger NA population however both servers are locked down right now.

Transferring Gil is another issue. Wouldn't hurt for SE to unlock that... I mean... if it's to combat RMT let them transfer servers, take the $20 and then ban 'em.

I will say, taking a lower (< L30) level DPS into leveling roulette is a nightmare since 3.1. Call BS all you want:



And I repeated that behavior multiple days, multiple attempts. Queuing for the same set of dungeons manually (no roulette, so sans the great bonus...) was a 5-10 minute pop. The roulette logic is broken for low level DPS, period. That being said...

I have found that (at least on Excalibur) FATE leveling is still alive and well, especially once you get to Costa Del Sol and beyond. There was a lull during 3.1 when everyone was on their endgame classes doing the new content, but that method still works. Hunting Log is good. Guildhests are good. Class/job quests. I don't even get to doing levequests unless I'm leveling crafting.

Yeah it sucks that the roulettes are broken, but you can work around it. Hopefully the hotfix going in tonight helps fix some of this.

No, people are pointing out OP's stupidity because there ISN'T any difficulty in leveling classes. What issue, exactly? Is the issue the tons of roulettes and bonuses? The boosted exp in both fates and dungeons? No one here has said SE is perfect, so maybe try replying to an actual person instead of an imaginary strawman.

Actually it all boils down to preferences. I don't like leveling, I don't level up too many characters. There isn't any difficulty, that's right, but it is hell tedious. When I think of 30 mins in disk vigil on my bard, I think the time would be better spent on my gf. OP did make a valid point, it probably isn't what the majority felt, but the number of people putting him down is astonishing.

I've been having trouble with not many people doing fates lately too, so I've turned to primarily dungeons! Are you maybe playing at an off-peak time? I'd have thought queues would be really fast on Balmung and I never have trouble finding dungeons around that level. (30+) Either way I don't know what was up with all the instant hate in here, not really needed at all.

Tonberry is one of the most populated servers and it barely has 15 at primetime, damn.

Well... I think it's just the western influence on that server. I was previously in Gilga, 2nd most populated server, top Raid server and place was getting more and more deserted by the day. As for Tonberry, 61.7% of the players are Western. I wouldn't consider it as a raid server either. Chocobo atm is the most active raid server in JP. Most populated is Shinryu, but raiding is vacant over there.

My raid is looking for a good Ninja/MNK and WM if you want to hope on over ;p

Tonberry is mainly a casual RP server. Also, due to the large Western community, the MB prices are higher than the regular JP server. Which makes transferring gil a lil easier. But trust me, it's hella worth it.

I suppose that's the truth of it, I've noticed a lot of English players are too afraid of actually leading a group and so they sit there until someone does it for them. I've got more than a few "I've been waited for someone to make a PF for this for ages now!" when it filled up in less than 10-20 minutes when I had made it. That could the problem.


I might have considered moving had I not made over 30 friends on Tonberry over the past year or so. The only real problem with Tonberry is undercutters, prices can drop to 50% of their value overnight and then restabilize in another day or two. Not sure if that happens on other servers. I've gotten a little off topic now... D:

Levelling isn't that hard, really, could be even easier indeed but.. It's not that bad. Try to use all your dusposable options: food, FC Action, rest bonus, DRs, challenge log.. You can do an average 1-3 level a day in few hours but even get to 60 in one week.
