I will say, taking a lower (< L30) level DPS into leveling roulette is a nightmare since 3.1. Call BS all you want:

And I repeated that behavior multiple days, multiple attempts. Queuing for the same set of dungeons manually (no roulette, so sans the great bonus...) was a 5-10 minute pop. The roulette logic is broken for low level DPS, period. That being said...

I have found that (at least on Excalibur) FATE leveling is still alive and well, especially once you get to Costa Del Sol and beyond. There was a lull during 3.1 when everyone was on their endgame classes doing the new content, but that method still works. Hunting Log is good. Guildhests are good. Class/job quests. I don't even get to doing levequests unless I'm leveling crafting.

Yeah it sucks that the roulettes are broken, but you can work around it. Hopefully the hotfix going in tonight helps fix some of this.

I've been having trouble with not many people doing fates lately too, so I've turned to primarily dungeons! Are you maybe playing at an off-peak time? I'd have thought queues would be really fast on Balmung and I never have trouble finding dungeons around that level. (30+) Either way I don't know what was up with all the instant hate in here, not really needed at all.

Levelling isn't that hard, really, could be even easier indeed but.. It's not that bad. Try to use all your dusposable options: food, FC Action, rest bonus, DRs, challenge log.. You can do an average 1-3 level a day in few hours but even get to 60 in one week.

It doesn't matter if people FATE with you or not so complaining about no one else FATEing isn't an excuse really. Even if you are the only one doing a FATE you can clear them easy. And if no one else is doing FATEs it means that the FATEs have gotten easier to complete. Go to the areas you listed and do the FATEs alone if leveling up alts means so much to you. If you've given up on Leveling roulette because of the so called "2 hour queues", then you can use your Chocobo as well and clearing FATEs will be extremely easy. Even boss FATEs as a DPS with a Chocobo out will take 3-7 minutes solo.

I highly doubt the Duty queues are as bad as you say it is. Just queue up and alt tab with game sound on if you hate waiting around for a pop. Even if it takes 2 hours to get into a dungeon, it's very easy to level up once thanks to killing mobs in dungeons and close to once more with Duty Roulette bonus. Clear some challenge logs as well and you will gain 2-3 levels from 1 dungeon run.

Yo fate aint easy to solo at all. And you cant use chocobo if you try to queue for roulette at same time since that is where good exp is. So id like to know what game you play because this is far to be same game considering half the fate in zones are nm fate!

Going to say I solo FATE events all the time, they're really not that complicated and you can reset aggro if you ended up pulling too many mobs.

Basically this. Like I said earlier, if you don't catch a FATE too late, you can find the direction the new enemies spawn from, go to the other side, and pull them one by one. You can complete the FATEs solo as such. Also, make sure your gear is up to snuff. Even if you're to level, if your gear is all off by five or more levels, you're in trouble. If your info on the Lodestone is still correct, your gear is out by ten levels.

I moved because balmung isn't what I thought it would be, also wanted to keep my word to someone on phoenix that I was returning. It works for me because I am a nightshift worker. EU players are online when I am due to timezones basically being flipped. Was impossible to do anything with anyone on NA servers.

I only did around 1 dungeon per level because as a DPS I hated the long queues. Every week the challenge log resets. It provides a ton of experience if you complete every objective in it that rewards experience. Also make sure you always have food active for the experience bonus.Just buy the cheapest food available. The food does not have to have stats that benefit your class as you're only using for the exp bonus. I soloed fates while waiting on queues, unless I still had challenge log and hunt log stuff to do, then I did those while waiting instead. The harder ones can't be soloed, but there are always solo-able fates for every level. You'll level to the early 50s quick, and then can start North Thanalan fates. North Thanalan is always an active site for fates due to others leveling. If you want to avoid queues you can also start a party finder requesting 3 others that want to help you level and see how that goes. The more you have in party the faster the queues should pop.

I started doing fates in the earlier 40s in North Thanalan all the way to 50.

Some players in our FC were new to the game (and yes do work) and actually have a class to 60, so like within a month or so.
You really just have to put some effort into it, it's a mmo after all. It is not like you have it harder then all of those that had all classes leveled already.
There are many various ways to level, blowing off all your leves is not the way to go.
Also i though Balmung was a populated server? Granted at certain times some areas are empty on Levi, but overall fairly active.
Also are you not in a FC? Like so members can help you out leveling? Sorry if you mentioned if you were or not, did not feel like reading several pages at 2am, haha

Oh and i have never been in any groups at all for fates, leveled 4 classes from 56-60 in hinterlands mostly, and some dungeons of course.
If only my chocobo could heal even in healer stance....
