I think SE should just make it a 1-2 person dungeon and with maybe a chocobo or something. That way newer players can experience it at their leisure. Make the monsters a bit weaker or something so it can be solo'd by a new player. I feel bad every time a new player gets dicked in meran/prae and then they think the rest of the game is like this since the "last boss" experience was so shit, without knowing the game actually goes on for much more content.

Plus it makes more sense lore wise. I mean you have 8 ppl riding magitek mounts in prae? Wtf?

Apparently back in 1.0 you could take NPCs with you into Dungeons to help fight. I've heard rumors they may be working on this again. Which would be great for doing what you want at your own pace.

As has been said a million times in a million other copy/pasted topics, those 2 dungeons are designed exceptionally awful.

Seeing as how you wanted a specific type of run though, you should've gone to your fc/friends/pf first instead of last. Plus if you are gonna ask 7 strangers to do things your way, "told them to shove it" is not how to go about it.
Here's the thing: these two dungeons even have their own roulette. If you're signing up for MSQ Roulette, you're willing to take the risk of waiting for all cutscenes.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a speed runner. Whenever I'm tanking, I never stop in between pulls unless requested to do so. I skipped all my cutscenes when running dungeons. I just don't think it's fair for the new players to have their experience ruined because of veterans who have done that dungeon a thousand times and still queue up for it somehow.

Best thing to do with situation like this if it is a story quest and there are new players disable Cut-Scence Skipping. Also add a forced level Cap of Level 50 IL50 to those 2 story dungeons. If you bail out in the run you are automatically locked out of all instances, raids and trials for 6 hours, people would think twice about doing it. All members helping the new members would get 300% more tombs for helping out new players.

They'd think twice about even queueing up for the roulette at all, and newbies would be left in the lurch.

People wouldn't think twice about it at all. They just wouldnt do the duty and new people would be sitting in DF for hours on end talking about how square needs to incentivize the story dungeons.

If you want to watch the cutscenes from front to back then make a pf for the duty. If you are going into DF you get what you get. That's just how it is.

This. I'm already on the brink of not doing MS roulette because of the obnoxious delays that I may or may not have to deal with when someone wants to be a white knight and hold the entire group hostage. I will never queue as a DPS again for that. As healer I can force the group to go or be left behind, as long as I have at least one tank and a DPS or two with the same mindset. Take that away and I will boycott that roulette entirely, and you can watch the L50's sit and cry about being stuck in the MSQ. THOSE are your options.

As it is, I'm tempted to do all my other roulettes first so I can dump any carebear group in the MS roulette I get stuck with. I'd rather eat the penalty than waste my time, and I am far, far, FAR from the only person who feels that way.

Decency works both ways. A first-timer could have the decency to not hold back 7 other people, by showing the courtesy in skipping cutscenes, and knowing the group won't hold it against them if they get lost, die, or otherwise don't contribute. I'll say it again, on my first time I was asked to skip all and I did. Now I make it a personal point to use my commendation for the first timers that play ball with the group (not that it really amounts to much, but it's the thought that counts).

No, that's called, "Having your cake and eating it, too." The decent thing isn't expecting others to bend to your way of playing, it's accommodating those who aren't as caught up as you. It was your choice to skip the cutscenes when asked, you didn't have to because it was your first time. When I did either dungeon I'd tell new players to watch the cutscenes if they wanted to, to enjoy the trip as it was practically a given it was going to be an easy run. I don't care how long something takes, as long as it was a success and it was fun. That's all that should matter.

I dont run old content often, but when I do.... I enjoy seeing people do it for the first time. Just lets you know that new people are still flowing into the game. As a tank you have an option to partially allow people to have the best gameplay experience and so letting people do simply things like watch the cutscenes or grab treasure chests out of the way help.

I wish those old instances gave better rewards for endgame players. It would probably encourage me to run those again.
