Yea it changed with the 3.1 patch, would of made more sense to lower the botanist items to 1 also.
It's a glitch that they will very likely fix in the upcoming hotfix maintenance tomorrow.

Probably a bug. Note that exploiting a bug can get you permanently banned.
Exploiting what? If it was really that big a deal they would of patched it when they had the emergency maintenance. They can't ban you for just playing the game cause you not going out of your way to glitch the system or anything.
I think that comment about exploiting a bug was tongue-in-cheek.
Not at all.
They can ban you for exploiting a bug. From the User Agreement:
I don't think buying what you normally would would be considered "taking advantage" of the bug. But doing all you can to buy as much as you can while the price is glitched probably would be.Therefore, any use of the Game in violation of such restrictions exceeds the scope of the License granted to you and constitutes infringement of your license, and is grounds for immediate revocation of your license. ... Violating these License Limitations may result in the suspension or permanent banning of your account, or such other lesser measures described in Section 3 which Square Enix may take in its sole discretion, ...
The current License Limitations are as follows:
... In addition, you may not take advantage of game system bugs and exploits during gameplay.
But how do you prove that someone is intentionally exploiting a bug though? What if a person decided to do a lot of it... not trying to exploit, but just doing it... SE can't ban someone for that! How do you distinguish someone who is intentionally exploiting vs someone who just happened to be doing a lot of it?
Also, we're "guessing" that it's a bug because of our experience and because of how we know Miner and Botanist should be equal. But somebody newer may not know it's a bug. And what if, it's not actually a bug? We can't prove it's a bug or not either until SE changes it...
Back in Patch 2.4, when we first found that Bridesmaid Shoes can be desyned into Fieldcraft III, a lot of people thought it was a bug. Some decided to not do it to avoid bans. Others did over 10 hours in a row... At the end, it wasn't a bug after all. And those who did 10 hours of desyn earned over 10 million overnight (it was a lot of money back then).

I expect it goes like this:SE employee: Hey, manager, I reviewed transactions on those price-glitched mats, and here are the sales by player. What should I do?Now is it a bug, or are those mats priced as intended? No one but SE knows, so take your chances. Me, I'm just going to do what I have been: buying what I need when I need it. That's not as safe as not buying these mats at all, but it should be safe enough IMO.
SE manager: Let me see .. group 1 seems to be just buying as much as usual based on their pre-glitch buying, group 2 did not buy that much more, but group 3 bought way more and, looking at MB sales, sold it at fire-sale prices. Warn the second group, ban the third.
After all, SE doesn't really need to prove you exploited a bug. They just need to believe you did.
In regards to exploit, I know a lot of people who felt that the bug is that BTN mats should've been 1 also. It would be ridiculous if SE came down on them if they bought a bunch of those mats right now without the player having a clue. I wouldn't be concerned about this.
