I'm not sure we can call it a "world" or "existence" (in the way I think you're referring to it. Ie: similar to Hydaelyn). It's definitely a place... but the lore would seem to imply that it is a bit more wide spread than a planet.

If you consider the lore of the Void from previous FF titles, the void is pretty much described as the space which underlies the worlds and spans between universes (which is how Gilgamesh managed to travel from game to game. He was banished into the void and has been popping out at random places). This has been a pretty consistent description across all of the FF titles, and FFXIV seems to be running with it as well. During the Void Ark Cutscenes, Cait Sith explains that the old magi used Void Portals to basically achieve instant transportation between two separate places. So, it would seem they are implying that the void underlies all places, and you can open a portal to it to basically create shortcuts in the "real" world (for lack of a better term). So I think we can assume that for each physical place that exists within the universe, there is a mirrored equivalent within the Void.

As for Zodiark, it's possible that Zodiark is tied to the void the same way that Hydaelyn is tied to Hydaelyn (why did they have to name them the same thing??), but we have no proof thus far. For one, Hydaelyn is the mother cyrstal of Hydaelyn. If Zodiark's relationship with the Void is the same as her relationship with the planet, than he would have to be the father crystal of the Void. It's totally possible... but it's also totally possible that he is simply sealed away somewhere within the Void.
