    The Void and its influence

Okay so over the course of this game and parts of its lore we have

    • Allag: an empire that fell after its emperor made a deal with the Cloud of Darkness
    • Ascians: Playing their Paragon act to Allag aside, they are also night immortal beings that seem connected to the void
    • Mhach, Amdapor and Nym: between Allag and the modern citystates of Ul'dah, Ishgard, Gridania and Limsa Lominsa, lies three city states that waged war with each other, all three of which faded immeditely
    • The Lambs of Dalamud: Cult that made the Allagin satellite their idol (and the most likely group to try to re-summon Bahamut after the Dravanian Horde...thought not by much) and uses dark rituals to summon voidsent
    • Garlemald: Influenced by Ascians during the A Realm Reborn story arc, and also tried to emulate Allag
    • Archbishop Thordia: ALso incfluenced by Ascians, though he ws playing to use them to his own ends instead ofthe other way around
    • Most Primals: Ascians playing the Paragon act again
See the connection? It seems to me that the Void is the underlying villain of most of the threats we'e seen thus far? using the Allagins, Mhachi and other groups as proxys and Pawns (though I'm not sure if the Ascians are voidsent or not) As a result, most of the 24-man Raids and a good chunk of the villains can be trced back to the Void and its denizens

What do you think? Are the voidsent the real villains of the game (Assuming the Ascians are in or related to this group)?

I'm not sure we can call it a "world" or "existence" (in the way I think you're referring to it. Ie: similar to Hydaelyn). It's definitely a place... but the lore would seem to imply that it is a bit more wide spread than a planet.

If you consider the lore of the Void from previous FF titles, the void is pretty much described as the space which underlies the worlds and spans between universes (which is how Gilgamesh managed to travel from game to game. He was banished into the void and has been popping out at random places). This has been a pretty consistent description across all of the FF titles, and FFXIV seems to be running with it as well. During the Void Ark Cutscenes, Cait Sith explains that the old magi used Void Portals to basically achieve instant transportation between two separate places. So, it would seem they are implying that the void underlies all places, and you can open a portal to it to basically create shortcuts in the "real" world (for lack of a better term). So I think we can assume that for each physical place that exists within the universe, there is a mirrored equivalent within the Void.

As for Zodiark, it's possible that Zodiark is tied to the void the same way that Hydaelyn is tied to Hydaelyn (why did they have to name them the same thing??), but we have no proof thus far. For one, Hydaelyn is the mother cyrstal of Hydaelyn. If Zodiark's relationship with the Void is the same as her relationship with the planet, than he would have to be the father crystal of the Void. It's totally possible... but it's also totally possible that he is simply sealed away somewhere within the Void.

because we have to name someone "Mother Earth". Hydaelyn is basically the equivalent of said mythological person

(Yes I know this is off-topic)

I know... but it makes it awfully confusing when someone is referring to both of them in the same comment lol.

I think the Void is another plane of existence ... while the real world offers "easier prey" I don't think Voidsent are too terrible. Afterall, Voidsent can be bounded/enslaved and forced to do the bidding of their summoners. We see this, especially, in the Void Ark: Voidsent locked in coffins and who's essence are being siphoned off to fuel the Ark. Their Queen bound into the architect of the Ark and the basis of Mhachi BLM was bounding Voidsent to fuel their magic + using the world's aether.

The Allagans, as we see in Fractal/Aetherochemical research facility, were able to create voidsent and bound them as fighters, as well. Granted, they had a deal with CoD.

With that said, I once thought that the Void and it's denizens was Zodiark's domain with the whole darkness theme + color scheme and how the Asciens need special contraptions to survive in Hydaelyn's world. And the only world we know of outside of Hydaelyn is the Void

I don't think the Dravanian Horde would resummon Bahamut. Why should they? They, or at least Hraelsvelgr and Nidhogg, witnessed what happened to Tiamat and Bahamut, and know that primals are very, very bad news and not to be summoned. So, why should they?

Well... who knows. We know far too little about either of them to say if they are connected or not. They could be. They couldn't be.
However, seeing as the Void Sent in the ark are described as being 'enslaved', I don't know if you really can say they manipulated Mhach...

That's an interesting theory. Any hints towards this yet?
