This! Emphasis mine. To OP, it seems like you're good at your job and aiming to use it for the biggest possible benefit for your group. If someone doesn't appriciate that, that's their loss.

As a tank, your job is to use your abilities to help your group to make the fights go as smoothly as possible. Using cooldowns should not be considered an extra effort but instead something you constantly do to help your group. I play both healers (I'm main SCH but also play WHM) and tank (PLD) in dungeons and I often time Sentinel and even Hallowed Ground so that I can give some time for my healer to put their DoTs up. I trust my healer to handle their part while I handle mine (or the opposite when I'm playing the healer) and I don't expect to be babysat through the dungeon.
