Is hardmode 24 or 72 players?

Meaning if we did a 24 man FC Run would we encounter other 24 mans or would it just be our 3 parties?

You will still find other groups in the instance you join. (The other groups will normally be on a different timer than yours so they may have entered before you and others will enter later as older groups get kicked out at the end of their time.)
