Quick question... does the red mark left by the "meteor prey" cause additional damage if you're standing in it? It's my understanding to just stand still and eat the prey while a Cure 2 is thrown your way to keep ya from dying. I assume since it's splash damage, the further you move away once the mark disappears, the less damage you take. However, I just want to know if the red marks left behind can cause a tic or if they're harmless.

I'm going to assume they're harmless and just an added effect since they don't last long at all.

They are AOE marks that hit anybody within your vicinity. They are there to damage anybody you might clip while running from orb to orb. Each hit does relatively minor damage, so just don't Venn Diagram your friend and you're fine
