    Question before Heavensward

Hello, just a quick question: should I do all the main scenario quests with my "main" before heavensward or do I end up over leveled? Just pondering should I level another class and do the rest of the stuff with it and then move onto Heavensward? (I don't want to end up "wasting" tons of juicy end game exp if I can skip grinding stuff with alts)

Well at lvl 50 (Max level Realm Reborn) you have about 100 quests in the Main Scenario to complete before you can even access heavenward content.

Well not certain about loosing out on xp as myself I had every class except Warrior at 50 but you will need to have at least 1 class/job @ 50 and the main storyline complete of 2.X before having access to Heavansward.

Does installation of heavensward remove the 50 cap even without access to Ishgard though? If so he could be leveling and not wasting the exp he could be gaining through those quests.

You need a giant amount of exp to reach lv60, but there's also a giant amount of side quests in HW areas that you could leave for other classes if you wanted to. But there are so many sources of exp, you never need to worry about saving anything. Dungeons, roulettes, challenge log, levequests, tribe quests, hunt bills, there's infinite exp from repeatable content.

Thank you, this basically answered my question My concern was indeed that I would end up losing some experience as I don't like grinding same dungeons/fates/leves as I prefer quests.

It's worth noting that the dungeons just got a big exp boost... Rufalus is right that there's a goodly number of sidequests, but they're sadly far from infinite.

Buying Heavensward immediately unlocks the level cap of 50, even if you can't reach Ishgard yet.

I can't say how much exp you will earn from doing lv.50 dungeons, but the quests still give no exp at 50 (except those added by Heavensward).

If I knew I was going to buy the expansion, I'd probably just buy it when I hit 50. The only exception is if there was a big sale coming up (like Black Friday or Cyber Monday), at which point I'd take a look at my progress and see if I could get by with staying 50 for a while longer. Maybe I'd level some cross-classes or crafters. It's up to you really. But generally, there's a lot more sources of exp now, and the beast tribe quests scale to 50, so later classes you level shouldn't have a problem catching up.

Even with all of the quests and exp, you may end up only 2-3 levels over where you would normally start, and that in no way over levels you. It just saves you some time before the dungeons in hw, where you will get better gear.

The level 50 dungeons mob kills in them now give exp. And the lvl50 main story quests also give exp if you have heavensward from what I understand so ideally you would want to get heavensward when you hit 49 or so so you get all the exp.
