3rd/4th Retainer

Most omni crafters and gatherers have 4 or more retainers already. Many crafters I know have 6 retainers, I still have my 4. However I do agree with others about getting a free 3rd retainer. Yoshi said we couldnt get extra inventory slots because it would overload the servers with all the characters inventory increasing. But they could have easily added a free retainer while the servers were down for 24+ hours.

I dont entirely buy this. Yoshi P will say whatever is necessary to get the consumers to agree with his proposal. He just needed something to back up having us pay extra for it... same thing with the cash shop and using the "players asked for it' so we brought it in.

That discussion is frequently misrepresented. They weren't talking about server strain but networking issues.

Expanding our readily available inventory that continually refreshes in the background would dramatically ramp up the bandwidth demands. Not just locally either--that also increases the demand across the internet--which is already buckling under the existing strain in some regions as is. Just look at all the latency and packet loss threads. If you pay attention to what little bit of trace data users have submitted you will see there are points where data is getting choked along the way--not enough bandwidth available through those corridors to supply the current demand.

It bugs me a lot were told he cant add extra space because "server restrictions" and yet its totally np to give us 1050 extra spaces and 100 more slots to sell things -if- we pay for them only. I agree a third, or possibly even fourth retainer for the way the game is made. If this was the type where your character plays one job it wouldn't be such a issue. If we could mail alts it wouldn't be such a issue. but that's not the case here. We can't mail alts and we are given multiple jobs on one character and put in line with a system that is punishing to level other characters for the sheer amount of work needed.

If it would be too difficult to add a higher inventory that's fine. But most of the people crying for more space would be equally happy with a extra retainer or two we're not paying for. Saying you cant but then making it possible for that additional 1050 spaces for a price is offending. For me and my husband to both play right now and have the space to do all our jobs and craft/gather it costs us $60 a month CND. A little less cash shop and a little more rewarding for that type of price please.

Could we just please stop with these 'lack of inventory space' posts please? There is a myriad of posts like these every month, probably over a hundred since launch. Yoshida knows that there is a inventory issue. A change will come WHEN it comes.

Also, even if they graciously decided to give a free retainer with 3.0, instead of people complaining 'no retainers?', it will be 'just one?'. Even if they get two, eventually people will start complaining again, 'we need MOAR, MOAR, MOAAAAAAAAAR'.

At least wait until they upgrade their servers.

No, because they get deleted so SE can play the "it didn't happen card, what complaints"? If you don't agree with it don't click the thread. It's obviously not a concern of yours, but that doesn't mean it's not a concern. If there's a forum post I have no interest in, or disagree with I just don't read that thread. it's quite easy to avoid threads you have no interest in.

For one, if you don't like the post, it likely doesn't concern your concerns. There are plenty im sure you do care to look at or that interest you. You have the right to say you disagree or are happy paying for it yes but you came to a post and said "please stop bringing up your legitimate concern that gets closed down because I don't want to hear you complain about it" Says to me its not a problem concerning you if you have no problem with it other then it popped up on your general discussion threads you were looking at.

Second of all I also pay for all the retainers thus why im complaining that paying $60 a month is a bit much when were told space isn't a option but it is if your paying for it. Im curious as to why you feel this makes your contribution more then mine. Ive payed every single month for two accounts since the opening launch in 2010. I have posted here since 2010 of feedback though I only post where I feel I should or when I have a personal interest on the matter. Thats why at 800 posts im sitting at almost 4 gold stars because funny enough when I do decide to post, people tend to agree with me. Perhaps not everyone but My concern is valid even if its not in agreement to yours. I have every right to discuss issues I feel should be handled differently that you do without holding a "contribution" contest, as do you.

With that being said if I feel strongly on a subject and the threads are taken down to ignore a subject rather then respond to it by the dev team so be it. ill re-post my opinion until it's addressed.

Thank you. That's what people are supposed to do here. Discuss things they enjoy, things they don't things that could be improved on as Yoshi says he does want us to provide feedback. If concerns aren't addressed people leave and dev teams are left wondering "why" Both positive feedback and criticism are important to MMO's to keep them surviving. If you disagree with my points by all rights your entitled to. Though i wish you sounded a little more like a adult in debating a point then "basically saying your opinions more important then mine that you disagree with then posting im a big cry baby for responding back to you. (nice edit on the blacklist btw it does sound better then your original post below this one.) in any case Im here to bring up that I agree with the OP and the majority of posters, not to argue with one person so this will be my final response to you aswell. Agree to disagree, though I won't call you a big whining baby or pretend your a gil seller as you seem to choose to jump to when your point is challenged.

Why would they add new retainers for free?

You are paying for them.

If people is willing to pay for the inventory space needed to play confortably in a subscription based MMO, why give it for free? I mean, when they added that service, I thought that no one would hire it. But it seems that a lot of people do it. Why add more workload and risk to loose part of that income?
