    Blue scrips, gear, help!

I'm really new to the game, started when HW dropped and decided crafting and gathering was for me. I have a 60 cul and btn, 59 min, and all other crafters/gatherers are 51+.

I now find myself stuck. All the guides say get blue scrip for gear but i can't get high enough stats to gather or craft any. I'm low gil due to getting gear and working on airship. All the guides I find state 600 gp and 500 gather to get scrips and I'm stuck at 464 gather and 578 gp (on 60 btn) and I'm unsure what to do to get better gear to be able to get scrips!

Any advice at all welcomed, even if just focus on another class or anything. None of my gear is melded as my crafters aren't high enough to do it but if that's what I need I'll grind out!

You will want 600 GP, which is best accomplished by having a set of the following accessories in HQ: Dragonskin Ring x2, Dragonskin Choker, Dragonskin Wristbands, Hardsilver Earrings of Gathering. Once you have them, you will be a mere 3 GP away from 600. This can be fulfilled with a cheap GP food or melding 3 GP worth of materia onto your accessories.

Even without 600 GP, I would encourage you to attempt gathering the Lv.56 - Lv.57 collectibles from unspoiled nodes in Heavensward content. If a single Methodical Appraisal generates at least 113 rarity, you can use the following set of skills to earn the minimum 450 rarity that the Rowena's NPC is looking for. Otherwise, you need to get more Perception.

    (500 GP minimum)
    Toil of the Mountaineer/Pioneer
    Utmost Caution
    Methodical Appraisal
    Utmost Caution
Methodical Appraisal x3 (Should now have 450+ Rarity and 30/30 Wear)
    Collect x2

This is not an ideal rotation, but should allow you to collect some blue scrips until you can boost your gear. Focus on the highest stat pieces first (Chest / legs), and as you build up Gil you can then look at replacing the Trailblazer set with Serpentskin gear.

thanks for the reply, i will certainly try. right now I can gather the lowest collectibles but none for scrips- I literally have never gained even one! I'm happy to grind even for a small amount but I've been so stuck! Guides seem to assume you have pre HW knowledge but sadly i didn't even know the game existed til friends got me into it!

I'm new too and am a miner so I'm probably the worst to respond anyway... XD I got my first blue scrips from the node in churning mists that has dragon bones. It was the lowest level node I could get and it only gave me blue scrips but I'm sure there's something similar for bots. It's basically one out of 6 or 7 that has the collectible stuffs. I found that, as Kel said, having 600 GP is a necessity for me. I didn't get quite that much GP with my gear so I used food. One star food called Landtrap Salad. It was very cheap to make and easy to get HQ. It gave the per and GP buff enough to get me above 600. Then I got the pers lvl 58 gear that helped as well. My 'rotation' is dis eye + meth app + dis eye + meth app + single mind + meth app for two times or another dis eye instead of the single mind for one.

It took a while at first. the dragon bone only gave me 10 blue scrips but once I got over that, and my gear was high enough to get the higher lvl blue scrips, it became so much easier.

So, The thing I can suggest to you. Gather lower level mats and make cul recipes on the mb that you can HQ at level 60. Some of them sell for ridiculously low prices and require minimal gathering gear. I don't have anything off the top of my head, but even just gathering mats from HW can generate a nice income. Also, if you completed all the story quests in HW with your main battle job, you can sell all the HQ gear you got and generate gil. Selling mats is always a great income generator. But I find it baffling no ones willing to help you on your server/fc with gil.. or mats. Come to excalibur and join Heralds of Justice. I'll gladly provide mats to have my people make you the best gear.

I forgot to mention too, that you do get decent gear from class quests if you can afford to complete, or ask people to make the gear for you. You can get decent gear from your class quests on your btn/miner and have enough to generate decent income. But I'd really suggest going with a more helpful FC that can support you better. Sounds like you're exhausting resources for an fc that isn't willing to help you out.

aww thanks for the offer! I'm on this server as my friends from another gaming community are here, we built the FC from scratch when HW dropped so we are all new. I do have a 60 WHM but that gear is long sold sadly. I'm hovering around a million, just spending so much leveling crafters! I'm the only one in the FC with higher level crafters and gatherers so the ship falls to me right now.

I'm working on any way of getting gil for gear right now- I don't want to spend every penny i have on a set then be too broke for the inevitable mats. I have 3 retainers all with 20 items for sale and some days work out good! I'm as frugal in game as IRL, I do hunts only to buy aether tickets to save, I grind on the items I know sell! All to get that Grandmaster of the Hand, soon hopefully!

Well, if you are really trying to save money, I would suggest to run the diadem for free mats. Perhaps just to sell them. It's up to you. You can get grade 5 materias that sell for 50k a piece.
