    HQ/NQ items - No stats - What's the difference?

So when dealing with items such as the Spring Dress that have no stats on them (since I know HQ gives better stats than NQ), what is the difference between NQ and HQ? Is there some sort of aesthetic difference that I am not aware of, or is HQ on those items simply for the bragging rights of saying "I HQ'd that"?

Just it doesn't make sense to me currently, so hoping for some enlightenment. If it's just for bragging rights, why not just NQ the things so it's easier?

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

If i spend 2 mio for thavnair and theres hq for 2.1 i buckle up those 100k. Its quality man, dont be a bum xD
ppl DO nq things that have no hq use for laziness, but ppl also buy hq for being mental/because the price difference is small or not existing. I think that was the reason, not sure

for some reason people will buy the HQ item over the NQ, even if it's just for glamour. so to sell it faster you should HQ it.

I'm not a crafter atm, I'm thinking of this more from the buyer's perspective. Though when I get my crafters up, it'll be something to bear in mind!

So are you saying, when there's no stats on the item there's no difference in the item except for the psychological mindset of HQ = automatically better? It's definitely interesting.

    Mostly this.
For items that are trivial to HQ, I figure I might as well since it takes like 30 seconds more time and then I can have the nifty symbol by my sale listing (or give someone the item with a shiny background.)
For items that aren't trivial to HQ (e.g. Thavnairian gear with no HQ mats and no food) I try anyway, since it's practice with the rotation if nothing else and it feels good to get HQ on it. But I'm not going to go out of my way to make sure the mats are HQ first or anything like that since it doesn't really make a difference.

Given I can't tell the difference between them in terms of taste, whatever's cheaper will do me!

Well, HQ items also spiritbond faster, so if you want to get 100% spiritbond on them fast, the HQ version is the better choice too.
Some people are sentimental like that about lore reasons (since spiritbonding means that item is so precious to you and so well-worn and stuff).

Oh, thanks, now that I wasn't aware of. While for stuff without stats I'm not sure how useful that is (can the Spring/Thavnairian sets even be converted to materia!?), I can see why that would definitely help. I haven't yet started spritbonding my Spring/Thavnairian sets (I'm holding off in-case I decide to go back male and give say the Spring set to a female friend of mine who's coming to FFXIV, if I start spiritbonding/glamouring then the item becomes bound to me), but I see the appeal of it. I love it when I see "Your spiritbond with the [item] is complete."
