    What's in a name?

Honestly I don't care if the name is mom bomb or not, we all know who it's a reference to. And I don't think localization are trying to be "funny", there is nothing really funny in the name. I think Localization are just doing their job and keeping with the feel of the game. I think the name is fine. The word "Progenitrix" is quite an unusual word that I've never heard before but the word "Progenate" isn't, and if you understand the reference you can understand the meaning of the word easy from seeing how it's similar to the word progenate.

I might agree regarding this specific localization issue (Mombomb/Dadbomb) for the sake of nostalgia, though I don't care that much. But really - people need to read this post before they hate on the localization team and throw temper tantrums about things not being translated directly (because as we know, localization =/= translation), and because as the first two paragraphs specifically in that post state - the EN localization team is responsible for creating a lot of the terminology in this game. Do I know if that's the case with your examples for instance? Meh, could go either way, but this game is done pretty goddamn well if you ask me, having played it with the EN script and the JP script.

I'm a little tired of this being thrown around as "proof" of how the localization team shares some kind of implied equal part in development when all it says is that they come up with some names of some things that they've been asked to do. They don't write the story scripts from scratch, and they definitely don't tell the design team to put in blatant references to past FF games but with different names. They write titles, they come up with "neat" additions like Dragonspeak, and that's about it.

Furthermore, them writing about how hard they work isn't suddenly going to convince those of us with a distaste for their choices that they're doing an excellent job. I, and many others, have read (or listened to) both scripts and have decided I/we don't like many of the decisions they've made. You have experienced both and decided you like it. Neither one necessarily invalidates the other.

I actually think Ferne/Koji is a very talented person, I just disagree with practically every major decision the team has made here - spell names, Ye Olde English, overthinking Titan naming, removing direct references to other games in favor of whatever, changing the descriptions for chocobo dyes because they thought the originals were inaccurate, completely random descriptions of hunt mobs, and the absurd pun names for everything in the entire game.

I was being purposefully pedantic in my original post just so you know :P While changing the name would be nice for nostalgia reasons, it is the epitome of first world problems
