Is the Duty Finder working as it should?

Exodus is on primal and my leveling roulette queues have been horrible all week with some going up to 1 1/2 hours while claiming to have 5-20 min average. (The alts I was leveling were both in the upper 20's as thaumaturge since I was knocking out their casters to clean up their armories).

YES!! I had the same issue!

Queues are generally longer after a patch... It might seem like they would be faster because there are more people playing, but they are actually longer - especially for tanks and healers, because each queue only requires one of those and there are simply too many people playing.

I don't really understand what your saying here. I've been playing since the beta and every other patch I would get into the roulette or the single dungeon in under 5 minutes as a healer no matter if it was 4 hours,a day, a week or a month after the update in or out of peak times. As a DPS I would get wait times over 30 minutes but never for new dungeons. So do tell me what is the peak time and off time for Excalibur because I get over an hour wait time in roulette at 5am,11am,3pm,8pm,11pm and so on yet I go in NOT as a new player but without the roulette I join within 5 minutes and everyone in the party has already done the dungeon because we don't get the bonus.

Ok let's summarize my experiences thus far with the Duty Finder post patch 3.1:

Applying for Duty normally without using the roulettes:
DPS: Average 5-15min
Healer: Average 0-5min
Tank: Average 0-2min

Applying for any Roulette:
DPS: Average 40-90min
Healer: Average 5-30min
Tank: Average 0-2min


From the above you can conclude that the only classes unaffected by the changes are tanks.

DPS wait times for roulettes are approx. 8 times longer than normal duties.

Healer wait times for roulettes are approx. 5 times longer than normal duties.

I would like to mention here that the wait times for normal duties was about the same pre-patch 3.1 for roulettes, in my experience roulettes sometimes were even quicker than applying individually for a specific duty.

Maybe the maintenance tonight will fix this issue. Even if they won't admit there's actually a problem.

...can keep insisting on how nothing's wrong, I dare say experiences show otherwise. I've been maining DPS since I started, I'm no stranger to queue times - I can tell when something's strange. My "less than 5 minutes" queue for Expert Roulette has been correct before 3.1, and until Thursday's maintenance as well. After that though? Regardless of time of the day, it went well beyond 20-25 minutes, over half an hour too, resulting in me withdrawing several times because I have better things to do than waiting forever in Expert queue - there's PvP for that experience, tyvm.

I'm just going to put this here. It kinda explains itself. Total time in queue before getting in: 100 minutes.
This has been the average for me since 3.1 hit. Before it was about 15 minutes on average.

It should be noted that I had a couple of pops with AFKers before finally getting in. The interesting part about that was that while it took 2 seconds to replace an AFK DPS, it took about 30 minutes to get a new healer.
Issue could have something to do with matching tanks/healers?

Just had a 2-hour queue for Void Ark on RESET DAY. TWO HOURS. Fix it.

I had a 40min queue for Void Ark with Tank, then tried with a DPS and within 3 minutes it popped. Try to apply with a DPS next time, seems they get inside much faster.

The odd thing is that healers can have 40+ minute queues for expert, sometimes over an hour. So far my tank queues have been instant, but that might have just been luck because there's also stories of tanks waiting 30+ minutes.
