So reducing your ilvl while in a duty queue will cause the queue to expire

I can confirm that this isn't true because I queued with the correct iLv and switch to lv 1 gear and queue right into duties just fine. I do this all the time.

Then you got lucky, because it happened to me. Don't know if it was a bug or something, but it happened.
